Recently stayed in apartment A, which includes the top 3 floors and the rooftop terrace, which is the most wonderful part of the apartment. Other family members stayed in apartment B, so for the 6 of us, the terrace was a great place for communal hangout time in the afternoon/evening for antipasti and cocktails, as well as after dinner to enjoy the wonderful community experience, seeing the local families gathering for evening strolls and conversations while the children played soccer in the plaza in front of the church. The view from the terrace (and indoor rooms facing the water) are spectacular. Staying in the "Cinque Terre Treasure" was a wonderful authentic way to experience Riomaggiore. Great location close to restaurants, markets, train station and the hiking trail. Visitors need to know what they are getting when they rent an authentic apartment here: many steep steps, cozy accommodations, close living quarters to the rest of the community, which means you hear the church bells and the neighbors, and you know what life is like here. For us, we absolutely loved the whole experience!
This lovely apartment provides a very comfortable setting from which to explore the Cinque Terre area. Conveniently located only a few steps from the village, with restaurants and groceries, and close to the train station, it is a perfect "home base" from which to visit this beautiful area. The bedrooms are quite comfortable and the kitchen and living room provide enough space to prepare meals. All rooms had been meticulously cleaned and were well-supplied with linens, towels, and various supplies. The best part of this apartment, however, is the roof-top terrace with a comfortable area to sit, relax, and enjoy spectacular views of the ocean and surrounding hills. We had a wonderful time relaxing with coffee in the morning and again in the evening talking about our day over wine, cheeses and other delicacies purchased in the local stores. Our stay here was truly a highlight of our trip to Italy!
I first stayed in this iconic building with my family four years ago--we used two of the three apartments. The location, views, and authenticity of the building and decor were great. I've returned twice since then, renting Apartment A with the small but fabulous terrace. After taking the nearby train to other Cinque Terre villages during the day, each evening we would enjoy food and wine on the terrace at sunset, watch the local children practice soccer in the piazza in front of the church just across from the terrace, and look up to the lighted stone tower at the top of the village. I can't imagine going to Italy without stopping here for at least a few days!
Our family feels so privileged to have stayed in such a lovely home. The walk up to the house is magnificent. Our multi generation family was so comfortable, we had everything we needed. We spent many hours on the rooftop terrace of apartment A, it's hard to turn away from the incredible view. In fact, each evening we ordered take out so we could enjoy dinner from the terrace. We loved everything about our trip to Riomaggiore, the town and this beautiful rental.
My wife and I, our two adult daughters, and a friend stayed for three nights in this very nice apartment in Riomaggiore (Apartment A). It was a very good size for that number of people. Although the rooms are fairly small, we spent most of our time on the rooftop terrace, which was spectacular. From there we could see all of the town, and the Ligurian Sea in the distance. We could hear the chatter of the town's main street, and catch much of the town's action in the nearby plaza next to the church. We ate all our meals on the terrace, and just generally hung out there. The pictures on the website accurately depict the apartment. It was clean and well-equipped, and everything worked properly. We had plenty of linens and bedding. Carla was very prompt in responding to our emails, and her directions to the apartment were fairly clear (though it would be good to have the number on the door to the apartment). We appreciated having a bottle of wine and some food waiting for us when we arrived. The apartment is very handy for doing anything--either heading up the trails above Riomaggiore, or heading down into town. The only downsides to the apartment were the steep and narrow stairs going up to the terrace area, and down to the two main bedrooms (we made sure to navigate them carefully), and the difficulty in cooling the apartment off at night (despite the numerous fans provided by the owner, and opening the windows). On the whole, it was a great place to stay, and we would certainly recommend it to anyone planning on vacationing in Riomaggiore.
My husband and I stayed in the studio section of this lovely complex and had an amazing time. The studio was sweet and cozy and had everything we needed and for us to stay at such an authentic establishment was quite a treat. The window in our room opened to a lovely scenery of flowers and plants and each morning we were awakened by the sound of the birds chirping. I absolutely loved the sound of the church bells too!
It was also wonderful to be so close to downtown Riomaggiore so that we could go back and forth to our room as we needed. In addition it was quite close to the local laundromat which made our lives equally easy! We would absolutely go back to Riomaggiore and hope that this place would be available for us to stay at again. Fantastic property with so much charm!
