Walking distance to the castle and the village of Collazzone, the property is located in an historic complex called Monastery (or Abbey) of San Lorenzo, protected by the Italian Ministry of Fine Arts, whose most earliest traces date back to the year 1000.
The nearby village of Collazzone has a good restaurant, bar and grocery. A tennis club at easy walking distance offers tennis facilities and a restaurant. The beautiful and famous town of Todi, 20 minutes drive, offers all facilities for food, shopping, art and culture.
Some of Umbria’s most famous sites are in sight of the casale. At short drive (15 minutes to 1 hour driving distance) there is Perugia, Orvieto, Spoleto, Assisi, Bevagna, Montefalco and the wine area of Umbria, Marmore Falls, Trasimeno Lake. Rome is 2 hours drive, connected with highway, Florence is 2 hours and 30 minutes drive.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTY
Casale San Lorenzo has been recently and totally restored and where there was the accommodation of the nuns and monks before and the olive mills then, there is now a stylish private home.
The villa is rented exclusively, with private park and pool, the rest of the complex will be left empty during the guests' stay, none will access the complex when Casale San Lorenzo is rented.
Casale San Lorenzo offers offers privacy and proximity to restaurant ans shops, modern comfort and luxury, together with its historical character. The villa is characterized by stylish contemporary interiors, combined with the ancient structure of the buildings.
Resin floors under an impressive ceiling with huge 100 years old oak beams, old stone walls alternating with walls in rough plaster in warm opaque colors. Interiors feature antique doors and original architectural details, such as modern and luxurious en suite bathrooms with large walk in showers and large shower heads for a comfortable shower after a days spent visiting beautiful Umbria.
The villas is entirely air conditioned and has mosquito screens in the windows. Wifi connection. Heating is available for the coldest periods.
The entrance door on the villa is on the first floor, a flight of 15 steps leads to the entrance portico and gives access to the villa.
The large living area, with fully fitted open kitchen, is the heart of the house. A comfortable sofa bed faces a large fireplace and 2 scenic windows, with an amazing view of the valley and hills. A skylight provides further light to this large open area where there are sofas and 2 dining tables, a rectangular one and an extendable oval table.
To the right there is the first double bedroom, with queen size bed, en suite large bathroom and walk-in shower. On the other side of the the living area there is the second bedroom. It is on two levels, on the first level there is a single bed, a wardrobe area and a spacious bathroom with very large walk in shower, washing machine and retractable drying rack. On the second level, the mezzanine, there is a lovely bedroom with stone walls, queen size bed and and a window with medieval stone hinges.
The third double bedroom has an independent access from the external stairway of the villa, a few steps from the entrance door of the main part of the villa. A lovely portico with table, chairs and a fantastic view, precedes the ancient door of the bedroom.
This bedroom has a queen size bed that faces a large window with wide views of the valley and mountains, that view can be enjoyed while lying in bed and the window has an opening protection for children. The private bathroom of this room is spacious and modern, as the other ones.
GARDEN AND POOL
Casale San Lorenzo features a large fenced private park, we find roses, aromatic herbs, lavender, fruit trees and an olive groove with a green lawn under the olive trees. Children amusement, dinners or special events can take place in this charming part of the garden that can be illuminated with external lights.
There are multiple outside dining and lounging areas: in front of the building where the villa is located there is a portico with couches and tables, next to the olive groove there is a wood oven and portable barbecue with table and chairs, or by the pool. The furnished pergola facing the pool is one of the most beautiful parts of the villa, ideal for al fresco dining or for preparing an aperitivo by the pool. There is a complete kitchen, refrigerator, dining tables for up to 10 people, couches, sunloungers, barbecue.
This garden has been projected and designed as an hymn to conviviality, it offers total privacy and undisturbed wide views. of the valley, with hills and mountains in the distance.
The pool is large, with a nice irregular shape (around 6 X 12 metres), it has some steps leading into the water, in that area the depth is 20 centimetres and is ideal for children. The depth, after those steps, goes from 65 centimetres to 2,50 metres.
There are 2 deckchairs, 2 sunloungers and couches in shaded area under the pergola, seating 6. There is a shower by the pool with cold/hot water and a small area used as staorage and changing area.
EXTRA SPACES FOR EVENTS
On the ground floor of the building there is a large room totally renovated with arched ceiling and wooden walls with niches, it was the refectory of the friars and is rented separately (500 euros/week) together with the annexed and charming courtyard. This room has a bathroom; a projector and a removable cinema screen are available for meetings or conferences.
This area can be the ideal place for an intimate wedding or a celebration (like a birthday dinner and party), we are pleased to suggest an event planner for our guests looking for a special location.
San Lorenzo complex includes a romanesque church located at easy walking distance with beautiful crypt, the church can be rented at an extra cost (200 euros/day).
The villa is easily accessible by the main road. The property is not suitable for people with restricted mobility. It is a good choise for familues with children and exceptionally small well behaved dogs can be accepted, on demand (extra cost 50 euros)
