Cute place. Very charming. However, water poured out of the ceiling downstairs from the shower upstairs and when we brought it to the owner’s attention he complained about the number of towels I had used to clean up the mess. Narey an apology for the inconvenience. This was apparently a problem of which he was well aware but had not fixed; he proceeded to pour hot water and some sort of drain cleaner into the shower drain which did not solve the problem. The ceiling continued to leak at a lesser rate but moved to a different place and ran down the walls. When we tried to cook in the kitchen and use the stove top and their separate toaster oven type unit, it blew a breaker and we lost all power. When I tried to call on the phone I got a voicemail so I had to walk over to the house and knock on their door. A rooster crowed continuously which might be expected out in the country but a dog, at one point, barked all afternoon at a neighbors house. The thermostat was governed which I didn’t like and the TV, which was small with 1 million electrical wires and cables all behind it did not give English subtitles; we had to watch our Netflix the entire time we were there. The biggest thing that they seemed to be concerned about was a 4 euro tax that needed to be collected. Finally, I have rented half a dozen times with VRBO/HomeAway and have never had to “do check out“ but apparently there was Something I was supposed to do; something about which nothing had been said prior but later after we got to the airport I noticed an email from the owner from that morning reminding me that “the deadline” was at noon and asking when I wanted to “do the checkout.” What was there to do exactly?
