My husband Neal and I live in Warwickshire with our two children. I have been going to Fowey since before we were even dating; we used to work together and he sold me a holiday in River Views! (which his parents then owned).
We have been regular visitors to Fowey over the years, whether it's the excitement of Regatta week or a quieter break in the winter months. Our children have come to love Fowey too and over the years have enjoyed the simple pleasures of building sand-castles, crabbing and rock-pooling. We all love to get on the water by kayak or boat and explore the river, spotting the various birdlife and even occasional dolphins and seals! We also enjoy walking around the area, exploring the beautiful Cornish coastline (our favourites are Hall Walk and walking The Saints Way to Polkerris). And of course, whilst in Fowey, delicious Cornish ice-creams and cream teas are a must, along with fun evenings at Sam’s restaurant.
My husband’s parents put River Views on the market in 2009 and we thought this would be a great opportunity to keep it in the family (it was built in 1892 by my husband’s great-great-grandfather). The lounge was originally my husband’s bedroom when he was growing up. We love to visit Fowey as a family and hope to do so for many years to come.
Fowey is a very special town, which has become much more fashionable in recent years (with a few famous residents now!). It has still retained its original charm with colourful cottages, narrow winding streets and river life. After a great day exploring Fowey and the surrounding area, we love to relax and watch the boats on the river; we think River Views is the best spot in town with activity all year long.
