My wife and I had the very Happy experience of "wintering" in this Bungalow for three months as we avoided the weather in our very northern home town. Since this was the GOAL of our stay I will start with the weather. As I was unpacking our vehicle upon arrival nearly every neighbor drifted by to say "Hello!" and remark about the fact that I was wearing shorts and a Tee shirt. While it didn't seem warm to them, I felt like I was in weather heaven. It was in the lower 70s when we arrived in February and gently worked its way up through the 80s by the time we headed back north in May. My wife is an avid golfer and one of her other goals is to turn me into one as well. She gave me my first set of clubs as a retirement gift with the promise of "gentle prodding" on my journey to St. Andrews. I will make several trips to Hernando before I make those reservations for Scotland. What I can tell you so far is that there are about 30 golf courses within 30 minutes of this neighborhood. They are very reasonably priced as well with a majority between $25 to $40 with cart. Reservations never seemed to be a problem.
The home is just what we were looking for. As the saying goes, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression". The unit was IMMACULATE! I'm certain we could have safely eaten off the floor. What a great way to start. While there were only two of us, we invited other family members to come for visits. Not surprisingly, we had takers. The second bedroom has two twin beds and its own full bathroom and walk in closet. Just right for a short stay. The master suite has a King bed, full bath and its own walk in closet. We were quite comfortable during our extended stay. We like to cook and found the kitchen surprisingly well equipped. Even though we eat at home most of the time, we did find several local restaurants and cafes, many of them within easy walking distance. Some were quite habit forming.
I must go back to the neighbors I mentioned in the beginning. While it was not something that we were looking for nor expecting, the occupants of the immediately surrounding units on the cud-de-sac turned out to be one of the real "highlights" of our experience. They are all Year-round Floridians who usually take a summer get-away break. They could not have been more welcoming or helpful. They made us part of the "family" and are what we miss the most while we are back up north. We will be back.
