This house was perfect for three of us to enjoy three weeks in the Sky Island area of Southeastern Arizona. The house was clean and felt spacious. The furniture was in excellent condition and the kitchen was equipped for basic cooking. Our dog was very happy with the large fenced yard and we enjoyed the covered patio. The car port was nice because we experienced a couple of nights with frost and woke up one morning to 5 inches of snow (a once in a lifetime event here).
When we arrived we noticed there was no shampoo, or food storage containers and some of the no-stick pans were badly scratched. While this was not a concern for us (because a nice cast iron pan was available) I notified our hostess (Kathy) and she quickly provided replacement pans, food storage containers and shampoo. We really enjoyed our stay at this VRBO and would highly recommend it to others.
We were centrally located between Tuscon, Sierra Vista and Nogales, ideal for day trips to parks and monuments throughout the area. We enjoyed hiking several of the numerous hiking trails in the area and visiting places like the Mt Lemmon, Sagauro National Park, Tombstone, Bisbee, Nogales, Naco, many canyons and several ghost towns. The wildflowers in Picacho Peak State Park were amazing during March. Chiricahua National Monument was awesome and we enjoyed hiking 4.5 miles from the Echo Canyon trailhead to the visitor center. Walking around this small town with it’s many trails was very also convenient and enjoyable, and we frequently were entertained by Javelinas.
But nothing is ever perfect. The VRBO listing stated many items would be available to include shampoo, basic soaps and toilet paper. While the shampoo was not in the house upon arrival a 3 oz bottle was quickly provided (3 oz for 3 people for 3 weeks?). Basic soaps did not include laundry detergent and the shower soap was two tiny bars like those provided in discount motels. Unfortunately my wife had an intestinal bug when we arrived and went through a lot of toilet paper. The quantity provided was limited to 2 rolls per week. Needleess to say we had to buy toilet paper, shampoo, laundry detergent and shower soap.
Furthermore the VRBO listing said a dishwasher, ironing board and DVD player were available but they were not. The icemaker did not work. There were only a few pantry items: mostly seldom used spices like ginger, cloves and bagel everything, about 1/3 cup of rice and the same amount of flour. Ma
