truly beautiful escape
My girlfriend and I stayed 4 nights at the House of the Pomegranates which is the smaller of the two properties. It's a beautifully restored stone cottage that is essentially one room with a small kitchen area, a table to eat at, a pullout sofa that is also your bed and bathroom with a nice shower. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and we cooked several meals at home, taking advantage of the fresh herbs in the garden and wild fennel that grows everywhere. The property is perfect for relaxing, with lots of spots to sit with a coffee, read, write, think. After a week of hot weather and road-tripping around the western and southern coast of Sicily, this was a perfect respite. Breezy mountain air, sunny days and cool nights, quiet, cozy, and extremely peaceful.
It's well situated for exploring the Madonie region, with plenty of nearby hikes, scenic drives, and beautiful mountain villages to explore. Ferdinando was an exceptional host. We were welcomed by a basket of fruit and snacks, and a detailed list of recommendations for hikes, outings, and restaurants. He went above and beyond to accommodate all our questions and was always very quick to respond and easy to communicate with. We would highly recommend this spot to anyone!
Make sure you look at the photos specifically in the listing since they show both properties, and one is larger and one is smaller.
If you want a secluded space in the Madonie Mountains and your party consists of no more than 2, then this is it.
Secluded and yet really close to Petralia (and the parc entrance) or to other fine places such as Castelbuono.
You have your own gate and drive way and an impressive garden.
The house is small but tasty and comfortable, despite the foldable bed.
we were unable to stay but know we would have loved being there
I am sure that we would have very much loved the house if we had been able to stay there.
However, we had to abandon the holiday for personal reasons.
Ferdinando gave us very good information and was very understanding about our reasons for not being able to be there.
We do hope to be able to stay in the house in the future and from what we know, about the house and the owner would have no hesitation about recommending it as a very good place to stay.
An amazing spot in a beautiful place
The cabin, the nature, the close by civilization, it was all increadible. I could not more whole-heartedly recommend this "property". This is an ideal location if you enjoy hiking which Ferdinando can really help you out with. Also if you want to just enjoy existing for a while.
The only thing I really missed was some cast iron skillets :)
Quiet and Peaceful Rural Retreat
A charming cottage in the mountains, surrounded by woodland and orchards - a great place to see the local birds and flowers. We stayed in the Pear Tree House which is ideal for a couple or small family. Ferdinando provided a warm and helpful welcome and was always pleased to offer his help and assistance. I would recommend this property to those looking for a quiet and relaxed holiday in the Sicilian Mountains.
lovely cottage in a peacefull place
It was very hard to quit this lovely stone build cottage, beautifully renovated, in such a peacefull place. There are many attentive détails in the house, wich is prettily decorated and perfectly clean. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and the private land around the house.
We won't forget the fantastic welcome of the owner, who has been so helpfull and thoughfull, incredibly considerate with us.
