Clean and cozy and well stocked, but not the greatest experience
What is really starting to irk me about home rentals is the ease of check-in. I was requested to call, I presume the property manager, an hour before I arrived. Between customs lines and hailing a taxi, I took a bit over an hour, but we felt rushed bc he had to meet at another property. In addition, we were asked to pay a €14.88 tourist tax and of course it needed to be cash. I’m not even sure if that’s a thing and we told him we didn’t have having flown for 12 hours and just setting foot in Spain. I’ve also been scouring emails and the app to find where it was stated, bc he insisted that we should have known. So he accompanies us to the atm bc no other arrangement was acceptable and we pay him and that was that. The rest of the stay was fine, noise level was bearable, but I think the garbage trucks are pretty loud.
Another quirky thing is the shower configuration. The showerhead is on the “side” rather than the “front” making it rather awkward to shower.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The tourist tax applies to all apartments in Barcelona. It was mentioned in the confirmation e-mail that you received when you booked the apartment, and also in our e-mail from Aug 23rd when I contacted you for the arrival details. Anyway, we'll state it more clearly in the ad. Thank you.
Very nice apartment in good location.
Everything was very smooth with booking this apartment. It is very comfortable and quite spacious for a one bedroom. The great thing is it's proximity to Carrer Del Blai - well known for it's many tapas bars, which are all great value. It is also near Avenida Parallel so you can walk to everything Barcelona has to offer. 10 minutes walk and you are at the Ramblas, Gotic Quarter and ElBorn. Big plus is it is adjacent to Montjuic and this is definately worth a visit when in Barcelona. We loved our stay and would book again. Wifi was good and we had no problems at all with it. The apartment is well equipped and on the corner is a great little bakery offering coffee and croissant for 1.50 Euros!
On reviendra ;-)
Good apartment in a terrific location: the Parallel metro station is a short walk down hill, Carrer Blai, a street full of tapas bars, restaurants and a great fruit and vegetable store is just one block down the hill, Quimet-Quimet one the best tapas bars in the city is 2 blocks down the hill and it's a 10-15 minute walk to La Rambla. We walked all over Poble Sec and and the neighborhoods around La Rambla from here and took the Metro everywhere else. The apartment is on a residential street with a Farmacia on the corner and several bakeries nearby.
The only drawbacks were that the really slow dial up internet connect completely failed after 2 days (forcing me to spend an hour or so each afternoon in my favorite tapas bar on Carrer Blai to be online - what a sacrifice!), the sheets were washed in some kind of powerful industrial detergent which gave my partner a rash and there was a fair amount of street noise from the trash pickups and all the scooters (Barcelona has more scooters than any other city in Europe - and they all went under our window every night. Closing the French doors and turning on the A/C masked the street noise quite well. If the wifi was working better we'd stay here again.
Good Apartment - Great Location!
The apartment is on Carrer d'Elkano, a residential street one block up the hill from Carrer Blai, a lively walking street full of tapas bars and restaurants. The Parallel Metro station was a short walk down the hill and we could make easy connections from there to anywhere we wanted to go in Barcelona. It was a 10-15 minute walk to La Rambla and an easy walk from La Rambla to the Barri Gothic and the Ciutat Viella. We could take the Metro directly to Eixample or la Sagrada Familia. One of the best tapas bars in Barcelona Quimet-Quimet was just 2 blocks down the hill. There's a Farmacia on the corner and a good fruit and vegetable store one block down the hill.
The apartment was not all that big but well laid out with a good kitchen. There was a fair amount of noise at night and in the morning from the garbage pickups and the motor scooters, but we would shut the French doors and turn on the A/C and that made it easy for us to sleep at night. The wifi was very slow and stopped working completely after we had been there for 2 days. Luckily the tapas bars on Blai all had wifi, so I would spend an hour in the afternoon on the internet and drinking Estrella at Esquintla Blai. We would stay there again.
