Perfect!! Elk were in the yard, humming birds on the porch the river!! And the house had everythi
We loved eating as a family at the picnic table. Beautiful view! House well stocked. We'll be back.
A Great Cabin in Estes Park
This cabin is in a prime location at the edge of Estes Park on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park. The photos do not do it justice because the river is even more awesome than one can imagine. It was not uncommon to see elk, deer and wild turkeys around the cabin. I would not hesitate to stay at this location again.
Beautiful Fall River Setting: Inside Needs Repairs & Updates
My husband and I stayed June 16-24, 2018.
PROS: Cabin location is very close to town with a beautiful view of Fall River from the two decks. The cabin is spacious overall and includes good kitchen equipment for cooking meals. Ample parking appreciated since our son and his girlfriend joined us for part of the stay. We discovered an unadvertised third bed in the downstairs sitting area; we chose to use this room for the master bedroom since it had large picture windows like upstairs overlooking the river.
CONS: While I'm sure this is a well-loved family cabin with lots of memories, in our opinion it needs an overall refresh, deep cleaning, and many repairs to function well as a vacation rental. The decor is somewhat cluttered and very outdated, with some furniture and many furnishings showing wear and/or ill-repair. Many of the linens are old and very thin. The layout is funky. The upstairs "master" has a bathroom attached with a very small and dated sunken tub but no shower. Really only functional for small kids. The other bathroom is also on the upstairs main level off the kitchen/front entry. It has a very dated small walk-in shower (although we were pleased with the hot water and shower head.) Neither bathroom has a lock and the bathroom with the shower has a louvered door - not the best privacy. Skylights brighten the upstairs master bedroom, master bath, and second bath, but the plastic panels are broken in spots, taped and full of dead bugs.
The stairs to the lower level are open wooden stairs that slope slightly downward in some spots. Very slippery, especially in socks, and would be scary for little kids and some older folks.
The downstairs second bedroom has no windows and is very dark with the door closed. You must go through that bedroom to an unfinished basement room for the washer and dryer. Musty and old feeling. The closet in the second bedroom is under the stairs and very dark. Lots of old extra bedding stored in the various closets that should be cleaned out for vacation guests.
Wifi belongs to the neighbor across the street-could only access on the front porch. Very inconvenient! No DVD players-only a broken VCR. Very limited TV channels.
We've rented from VRBO/Home Away many times; we look for cleanliness and good function, but we are not overly picky folks. This is the first time I've felt it necessary to write a review. With updates and repairs, this cabin could be a show stopper.
We had a wonderful stay at this perfect location! River, close to town and RMNP!
We had an amazing week long stay at this property. You can not beat the location. It is right on the river. We fell asleep each night to the sound of Fall River. A herd of elk surprised us one morning by walking down the opposite side of the river, through the river and right by our house! It was amazing. You can walk to town and you are just minutes from RMNP. Even though you are close to town you still feel very removed from the crowds. Fishing was GREAT just right outside the back door. The house was a little dated, but very clean. There was plenty of bedding, towels, kitchen supplies, etc. It was so nice to sit on the back porch, listen to the river and watch the hummingbirds. We had a perfect week in Estes!
Excellent location...takes 5 minutes to get to anything in town, beautiful river location, would definitely return
Amazing get away
Charming home with lots of character. The river running behind it and the balcony and deck make it special.
