Classic, charming, tasteful!
Just about the perfect rural galecian getaway. We love love love our stay here in may of 2018.
Cute little village and lots of rural Spanish treasures to explore. Beaches, shops and restaurants. The house exceeded expectations which were already high. You’ll love it!

Luxurious villa with rustic charm & beautiful area
Coming from the hustle and bustle of a busy city like Hanoi in Vietnam, the contrast couldn't have been more stark. And more welcome. The villa is located at the top of a hill overlooking the whole village with some amazing views and being at the edge of a forest, my wife and I felt ever so much closer to nature. It was the perfect place for us to completely relax and unwind. The villa is full of character with a great open-planned kitchen and living room downstairs and a luxurious bedroom with balcony and bathroom that make you feel like royalty. I loved that combination of luxury combined with the rustic stonework of the interior. The garden is dreamy with a good-sized swimming pool and grass beneath your feet (you don’t get grass like that in Vietnam!). And no better place to spend the evening having dinner than on the patio and taking in the stunning view before the sun sets. It’s quite a steep little walk up the hill to the villa which was quite a challenge on the bike to conquer (I always lost!). The surrounding area is fantastic for cycling with a rather delightful back road to the nearby town and, feeling more ambitious, a great ride over the impressive curved bridge connecting the village with the road to Noia. Noia is a good-sized town, rather picturesque too – one of my favourite-ever squares there. We had fabulous sunny weather so spent a good deal of our time at one of the nearby beaches. White sands, pristine clean though the sea was a little chilly. Only downside to our whole stay was when we had to leave. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts Rupert and Maria for the holiday of a lifetime.
This house made our Easter Holidays
For the simple joys of life - this house made our Easter Holidays - beautifully restored by Rupert & Maria - you can see all the love and attention that went into making this old house new again. The garden was like a fairytale - backing into the woods and to the beautiful old creek stream below. It's on top of the hill - so the views are great with easy access to the things modern life demands - but also easy access to amazing beaches. We loved it.
Thank you John & Lisa Edwards - I'm guessing this lovely review was from you guys? Home& Away we seem to get a lot of anonymous reviews - can't we make the form for reviewers easy enough to include their names?! Anyway thank you guys - you got blessed with some great weather too!
Perfect for a good old fashioned family holiday
Casa Roo was bigger than we imagined in the photos but remained cute throughout. Our children loved the attic space and the garden and exploring in the woods. The locals were really friendly with the children - we got invited for drinks and given local produce! It was charming and the local scenery fantastic. Highly recommended to get away from modern life and remind the kids of the old days!
I'm guessing (as review is anonymous) that this is Gina and her family? Thanks Gina - the locals loved showing the kids the birds! Muchas Gracias and hope to see you again!
Beautiful holiday in a beautiful house!
Such beautiful holiday and house.
We chose Casa Roo as an escape from the madness of our normal lives, teenagers, exams, work and all the usual modern day life craziness. As soon as we got here we knew we could just switch off and stop. (after the hill climb with the car!) - It's a beautiful old stone house, on its own at the top of a hill that looks over the old village. It's beautifully renovated and the garden is like walking through some magical wardrobe into paradise, amazing scenery, lots of nature, great forest walks and streams. We loved it and even the teenagers chilled! nice towns nearby, incredible beaches and plenty going on in Santiago - a gorgeous old Spanish town. Highly recommended!
A lovely house and a great location for seeing all the surrounding areas and beaches, especially in season. We were visiting off season and so did not have great weather, but was thrilled with the heat and the lovely fireplace, which we did need. It all added to the pleasure of the house. A lot of care and attention went into the property and we hope they can maintain the house with the care they obviously put into it originally. Would be lovely for a family, great open set up for dining and terrific huge attic room. Nicely done.
