We were double booked
We were about to get in the car and drive to the Cape on Saturday morning when we got a call from the owner that the place is double booked and she is issuing us a refund. Our cars were packed at that moment and we were ready to drive. You can imagine how upset we were. After hours of talking to VRBO, we still have no resolution to it, we were promised that someone will call us back and help with the situation and help us rebook, no one called us, and there was nothing available for that week at the last moment. We received an email instructing us to book a hotel and that VRBO will pay for two nights of it. I had a house booked not a hotel, we are a family with two kids and one is a toddler, and in the times of COVID I had no desire to stay at a hotel.
Also, the house shows that it has a crib, it does not, it has a pack and play which is not the same. I have a two year old who cannot sleep in a pack and play, he is too big for it, but he still sleeps in a crib.
VRBO is telling us double booking is a fault of the owner as they had the house for rent on multiple websites, the owner is telling us it is the fault of VRBO website. So we were not told the truth of what happened.
We were able to reserve a house through airb&b on Sunday night and we were still able to enjoy a few days of vacation, our kids were looking to it after a long year of COVID restrictions. I only hope that VRBO will reimburse us for some of it as it started in a horrible way.
