If you are looking for high rises on the beach - this is not the town for you. If you like to walk to the coffee shop, then meander along tree-lined streets on your way to the boardwalk on the shore of the ocean - stay at Walter’s place in this charming community! Ocean Springs is just across the bay from Biloxi, but it is a world apart. Walter’s place is located on the best street in town! From there you can walk practically anywhere. The little balcony is shaded and a perfect place to have coffee or read a book. The kitchen is very well stocked with most items you’ll need for simple meals, and plenty of dishes and glassware for two. The bed was very comfortable , and the Murphy bed at the top of the stairs came in handy when our grandchildren visited (it’s not private, so wouldn’t be the best for more permanent guests). It was nice to have a bathroom on each floor. The internet worked great (as did the tv, which we used minimally). The options for dining are incredible for a town this size, and the casinos are 15 minutes away if you’re interested. In the morning walk to Bright-Eyed Coffee (waffles) or the Greenhouse (biscuits) or TatoNut Donuts (made with mashed potatoes!). For lunch or dinner we like Knuckleheads (a block away), Madison du Lu, Government Street Grocery, or drive to Woody’s. Buzzy’s Breakfast Joint and Kwitzky’s Dugout have to be experienced, too!
We spent five weeks in Ocean Springs and we found it to be a very welcoming community. We highly recommend Walter’s place to anyone without mobility issues (it is a second floor unit, with the bedroom up another flight of stairs).
