The apartment is located in one of the most attractive neighborhoods in Rome. You will find everything at ur finger tips. However if you are allergic to mildew this is not your place. We did not meet the host although information about the place was left on the table.
There were some simple things that needed more effort from the owner like changed lightbulbs, cleaner restroom, shower head not attaching to the wall that seem like easy fixes to make this a perfect place. The location was amazing and everything other than those small simple fixes was great. Glad we stayed there.
Appartement bien situé mais très décevant
Le quartier est très agréable mais l'appartement ne correspond pas à la description qui en est faite. Ce logement est en effet très sombre et très humide. Nous y avons donc passé le moins de temps possible.
I just can't recommend this apartment. Our stay was cut short by a water leak in the basement bedroom ceiling which was splashing all over the floor that left the apartment stinking of mold and mildew. Leaks happen, but the rest of the apartment was dirty and in poor repair. It looked like it had not received more than a quick wipe-down cleaning in years. Every corner was full of dust and dirt. The upstairs air conditioner faulted out after running for a short period of time. The washing machine soap tray is so full of crusty old soap it cannot be opened to add soap. All the dishes we looked at were filthy. The shower head holder was falling out of the wall and there was mud in the bathtub. The shower curtail was moldy. The bathroom sink faucet was missing pieces. I gave one star for the owner providing us a refund for some of our stay, but communication was poor during the refund process and it took a long time. There were some useful tourism guides/brochures available on the table, and it was nice to have more space than a hotel room.
Nice Apartment in Trastevere
Nice apartment in great area. We walked to most of the sites within 30 minutes (except for Vatican Museums and Villa Borghese we took bus because we had a time constraint) and the bus stops are within couple minutes walk. Stop at the Tourist Information center right there on Via della Lungaretta. They were very helpful and you can purchase bus tickets there. Apartment was clean and for the most part quiet. There are many restaurants in area so it has the noise of the hustle and bustle of many people moving around until very late at nite. If you are sleeping downstairs you don’t really hear it, just possibly if you are upstairs. It was myself and teenage daughter traveling so the size of apartment was probably more than we needed. It is good sized for two people and the cost was very reasonable to us. I would rather stay here than a hotel. We stayed during early spring so we did not have to run heat or air conditioning, so I cannot tell you how well they work. Overall I cannot think of any negatives to say about this apartment.
We were not in apartment much except to sleep, always on the go. The washing machine is handy but it takes a couple days for clothes to dry when on hangers. Conad grocery store is 5-10 minutes walk away and was good for purchasing breakfast and lunch items and wine.
In my opinion most restaurants in area cater to tourists and sell lots of pizza and pasta. Don’t get me wrong, I love pizza, just not every day. If you search around you can find other things though. The more you walk away from Viale di Trastevere , the more variety you will find. But worth mentioning was a small place 5 minutes away called Bar da Lillo. The pasta was great and prices were very reasonable compared to others in the area.
We loved our stay in Rome and this Trastevere apartment was in a perfect location. The neighborhood is lively (on a Sat. nite, quite lively!) but the apartment is on a little side street, so away from the crowds. And since the bedroom is in the basement, we really could not hear any outside noise when we were trying to sleep. (Great for recovering from jet lag!). We walked to the Vatican, the Colosseum, etc. Joie went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for a nice stay. Our only criticism may be that a neighboring resturant has their storage unit directly across the very narrow street, so there were often people or delivery trucks right outside our door and a fair amount of noise from them loading and unloading carts. This made it uncomfortable to open the curtains and door to let in air and light. Other than that, it was a great place to be.
