Clean and cozy
We arrived with two little ones eager to get out of the car after a 3+ hour drive. We were able to immediately access the house and there was plenty of yard for the kids to run around and stretch their legs. It took some time to figure out the heat (it was cool and rainy most of our stay), but that wasn't really an issue. The living room couch didn't really have space for 2 adults and 2 kids to sit together, but we made due with the extra chair in the room. The bedrooms were a fine size and suited our needs and the master bedroom had a wonderfully comfortable memory foam mattress. Our only real issue was the steepness and placement of the stairs, but we read a previous review that noted bringing a baby gate, which we did. Though our kids aren't babies, we were afraid they'd forget where they were and get out of bed on the middle of the night and get hurt trying to go to the bathroom or to come get us in our room. We were able to walk a bit on the Northern Rail Trail conveniently located behind the property and we also feed the dogs with the treats the owner left us in the fridge. We were disappointed we didn't get to see the horses, but it was understandable bc of the inclement weather. The fact that all linens were provided (way more than 4 people would ever need) was a great feature and the towels were soft and smelled wonderful. Overall I'd recommend this property and the owner was quick to respond and great to rent from. She even mailed back a phone charger we left behind!
Cottage on Webster Lake
We had a great time at the cottage on Webster Lake. Bronwyn Asplund was incredibly helpful in directing us to great local shops and places to see while we we were visiting the area. The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed during our stay. The trail behind the house was also pretty special. We enjoyed the week - it went by way too quickly.
You were great!! I agree, the week went by way too quickly!!!
Beautiful well kept guest house everything I was looking for.
Beautiful little rental with lots of stuff to do.
We stayed here as a take off point for exploring the Northern Rail Trail and had a nice time. While there were some small things that needed repair (e.g., toilet, fan over oven, and some lights that were out) overall it was a great place. The waterfront was a very welcome and wonderful experience after a very full day of biking. And, I can't think of a nice place to have my morning coffee with my family. Thank you!
After receiving this review, I went over and checked all of the lights which work fine, the toilet works fine, and the fan over the oven works fine. It is very frustrating to receive a review like this when you are not contacted by the renters when they are here. I asked several times during their stay if everything was fine and I was told couldn't be better!
Wonderful cottage filled with great amenities
We visited NH for a 3 night family vacation. We searched many towns and rentals suitable for our two teenagers and a large dog. It’s always a fine balance to find quality at a reasonable price. When we ran across the Aiken Manor cottage it almost felt too good to be true; lake access with kayaks, paddle boat, docks, fire pit, gazebo, badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, the list goes on and on!
Not only did we find ourselves at a cottage with historical roots, but one with a pleasant host who clearly wanted to provide a quality environment for her guests. All appliances were top notch; the pots and pans were beautiful and like new (Wolfgang Puck); plates quaint: nice quality wine glasses. If I had to give one opportunity for improvement it would be there were very few regular glasses, so we found ourselves having to wash the few there were several times a day. A minor inconvenience if even that! Towels and bed sheets were so fresh smelling! Presentation of the towels and bath amenities was so organized! Beds, linens and pillows super comfortable! Couch was like new. Furniture on porch comfortable and again so well maintained, you felt like it was brand new. And the porch ..... another wonderful spacious living space that we enjoyed our coffee in the morning overlooking the lake across the street. And all of this allowing pets - so hard to find!
The cottage was beautifully air conditioned which we appreciated in the hot weather! The owner was so attentive to emails and questions prior to arrival, answering within hours every time! She was only a phone call away if you needed anything.
We did not have time to take advantage of a bike ride on the rail trails, but another amenity you don’t easily find. The horses and dogs were a fun change and so wonderful and yet another thing to do to visit and feed them. We had such a special time as a family and we attribute this to the wonderful setting which offered us all the activities to share together, all included in the cost of the cottage!
A clean quality home is very important to us, and everywhere I turned this exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend if looking for a quaint quality rental for your family to visit the Aiken Manor cottage.
Thanks so much Debbie! I really enjoyed you and your family as well. I am off to get more glasses!!! Best, Bronwyn
I loved it!
I so enjoyed staying at the cottage, which was comfortable, cozy and quaint. It certainly provided for all our needs. I especially enjoyed interacting with the horses and dogs. The property is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. The lake and all the available activities is an invitation for family fun and enjoyment! The hostess and owner Bronwyn is warm and caring about providing the perfect stay for her guests. I look forward to coming back!
