We stayed in a ground floor two bed apartment. It was clean and full of all amenities we needed. The only thing missing was a kettle but we managed with a lovely coffee pot and a pan-no bother at all.
The setting is just gorgeous rolling hills as far as the eye can see. The pool area was clean the pool was a little cold for us and our little boy. There were other people staying there but we never felt crowded sometimes enjoying the pool area to ourselves all day.
We found the apartments quite easily. Up main road out of poggibonsi. You do need a car but we didn't mind that. Poggibonsi was maybe a minute drive, it has a Coop and a train station with free parking perfect really
The hosts were just gorgeous with our little boy. Genuinely couldn't do enough for us. We did wine tasting in the wine cellar which was lovely and have a gorgeous bottle of red and white and a bottle of beautiful olive oil too made on the farm.
Overall just a perfect location.
I will miss this place, it had the sun, warm weather, friendly staff, and a good central place in Tuscany. Amazing big pool. Only bad thing is all the mosquitoes - but we can't blame this on premises
Melograni was pleasant enough and certainly quiet and the countryside is lovely but we had not expected to have to provide everything, even coffee. There was no bar or restaurant which meant buying and cooking our own or driving at a lot of kilometers at night on narrow, winding roads to reach nice places to eat and sample the wine. It might be better for a family with small children wanting to stay in but it was disappointing for a couple wanting to enjoy the best of what the region has to offer. We left early as a result.
Lucca est un peu plus loin ( environ 1h 20) .. mais c'est aussi une très belle ville à visiter . ET quel bonheur de se détendre le soir au bord de la piscine après nos grandes journées de visites ;

VILLA: Large and beautiful stone villa with 7 apartments of various sizes (details on website). We stayed in the two-bedroom Cantina which has a small backyard with a table, chairs and a lounge chair. Note that none of the apartments have air conditioning so we were very happy that ours was on the ground floor in the back of the building. The sun never hit it directly. It was a little hot after we returned from our day-trips, but opening up the windows sufficed to cool it down. We never even needed the fans to sleep and we were there in the middle of a record-breaking July heatwave.
LOCATION: A car is essential. The villa is about a 7-minute drive from a town called Poggibonsi where you will find a huge grocery/supply store and a few inexpensive restaurants. Note that no GPS seems to know the short and direct way to the Villa, but once you get there the manager will give you simple directions. Poggibonsi is next to the highway which makes day-tripping very easy, especially since it is roughly 20 minutes from Sienna and San Gimignano, 30 minutes from Florence, 1h15 from Lucca, and 2 hours from the Western Tuscan Coast.
APARTMENT: Our Cantina apartment was very spacious, super comfortable, and very clean. The décor was simple, airy, and authentic. Each room had a double-bed and a large wardrobe. The bathroom had a sink, shower, and toilet. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need to prepare meals. The backyard overlooked the breathtaking Tuscan countryside and we could watch gorgeous sunsets every night!
POOL: Shared pool, but guests rarely have the same schedule. We were alone on quite a few occasions. There are numerous seating options in shaded spots.
CHECK-IN: No problems whatsoever. Also, asking questions and making the deposit from home was always quick and easy.
WIFI: The modem is in the manager’s office so you must be close enough to capture the signal. The pool area gives the best access.
MANAGER: Serena is completely devoted to making her guests feel welcome and comfortable. You won’t find a better host! She goes out of her way to make reservations for you, book excursions, give you inside information, and make your stay as easy as possible. She is on-site all day until 6pm. Plus the villa produces its own olive oil and wine so follow her down to the cellar for a tasting!
I would happily go back to this villa. It was very relaxing and a perfect home base for exploring Tuscany. Ciao! Grazie Serena!
We went to Melograni del Chianti as a family get together in September 2015. We rented the apt Focolare. Made the booking via email and paypal. Serena the owner was very responsive. Apt very comfortable, clean and decorated with good taste in respect with Toscan style. Great view over the Tuscan countryside, nice place for quiet holidays. Supermarket is less than 10min drive and you can find everything you need. it is also close to San Giminiano (30 min drive) such a lovely place with lots of restaurants.
Big thanks to Serena who was very welcoming and available to provide us information about places to visit. We even had the chance to participate in grape-harvesting in one of their vineyards, such a great experience! Really recommend Melograni del Chianti for a relaxing holiday in stunny Tuscany! And don't forget to test Melograni del Chianti wine, very nice!
