Beautifully done Tuscan farm house with all the comforts on needs and breathtakingly gorgeous views.
A marvelous way to see this part of Tuscany.
Fantastic villa which was beautifully presented in a gorgeous position and fabulous pool
This villa exceeded our expectations in every way. Lovely house with lots of space for all the family with a fabulous pool and fantastic views. Anghiari was a short-drive away and had a choice of good restaurants, while the villa was a wonderful spot just to stay and relax. Would highly recommend.
This is our second visit and it felt like coming home! Lovely. Warm. Inviting. Ahhh...
A family shares their home with you...
The long views. The pretty gardens. The woods. The luxurious pool. The exquisite stone exterior. The serenity. The shuttered windows. The pizza oven. All you could dream of in a Tuscan farmhouse vacation. But, the house is really much more than that. It is a domus, a true home obviously lived in by a loving family. A large wooden dining table with lots of chairs in front of an enormous fireplace. A library with leather sofas and chairs, a writing desk and another fireplace. The kitchen has a marble tabletop, perfect for rolling out pasta and pastry. Cookware, knives, plates, cups, glasses, a citrus reamer, a grater, measuring cups, a rolling pin any and everything a cook would want. A six-burner stovetop and large oven allow you to feed your family and soul.
The downstairs is filled with comfortable chairs and a couch covered in soft, inviting pillows surrounding a third fireplace. From the comfort of these seats, you look out onto a patio, through the fig trees, straight into the valley. And also in all this splendor, our friend Kim, watched a mother bird hatch her four eggs in the niche in her bedroom. Miracle of miracles. That is this house.
Tuscan tranquility in style
We booked the villa for two weeks in August. It was hard to leave. The house is located in a very scenic countryside area, on top of the hill, which even in August always has a comfortable breeze. In fact, we did not even consider once to turn on the brand new air conditioning. We loved the pool with its stunning views. The bbq was used frequently, as well as the outdoor tables. The house is exceptionally well renovated and decorated. Done in real taste and with comfort in mind. And don't bother to bring books - there's tons here. I finally got to read Under the Tuscan Sun. The closest village, Anghiari, is straight from a fairytale. What I also loved about it is that it's not overrun by tourists. The restaurants are wonderful, as are the local food shops. True Tuscan experience.
During our stay the cleaning service stopped by, as well as the pool service. The property is very well maintained. Wifi connection is wonderful (unfortunately the 2 weeks required some working).
Our favorite non-local outing and highly recommended was to Assisi. Otherwise all the villages in the area are stunning. And most of the time we didn't really feel like leaving the property, as it was so relaxing. Thank you Edward and Cheryl for giving us an opportunity to stay in your lovely villa. We will remember this vacation forever.
Step Back in Time
The Anghiari countryside was just breathtaking with views reminiscent of an Italian painting. The rolling hills, the mist , the walled village and the beautiful trees with brightly colored leaves all blended to give a picture of striking beauty. The home was lovely and served our group of four lovely ladies well. While we had planned to take day trips to various to towns, we found the home so relaxing after travels in Venice and Florence that we mostly explored locally. We enjoyed a day at the Ravagni Olive Oil site with Francesco just on the outskirts of Anghiari where his family has been pressing olives since 1421. We explored Anghiari itself and found a little church where the first mention of it was in a will dated in 1105. Be sure to try the wild boar ragu on tagliatelle at one of the local restaurants in the old city. Truffles? We spent a day on a truffle hunt in Umbria. Pigs were outlawed in 1985 so the leaders now use specially trained truffle dogs. We followed these dogs as they sniffed and discovered the hidden treats and their master dug with a special truffle tool to discover the hidden delights.
We cooked our dinners in the beautiful gourmet kitchen at the farmhouse - except for the night we used the outdoor oven to make our individual pizzas. Topped with local mushrooms and other delicacies we purchased at the farmers market, these were mouthwatering.
Marcello was extremely helpful and replied to my text messages promptly whenever I had questions. It was convenient to have the washer, dryer and dishwasher available and we used them often.
I would highly recommend a visit to this outstanding villa in Anghiari .
