Nice House, Nice area, Happy we did it
Our visit was very quite and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for. At first we were a little concerned about local stores and if this place may be too remote or not. but to our relief it was just about right. The Grocery Store was only about a 15 min drive (one way). but there is more in that area than just the Grocery Store.
There was plenty of privacy at the house. There is a neighboring house that is a few hundred feet away. But we only viewed one of the occupants once for a brief moment through the window as they went about their daily routine.
Amenities were good. Internet worked well, Kitchen well stocked (Dishes, pots & pans, etc.) linen closet full, a small closet stocked with games. As odd as the one mattress i slept on was, I actually slept well and through the night.
It rained often while we were there. So we were unable to use the back patio area or grill. But the surrounding Yard (as well as the scenery) was very pleasant to to look at through the windows.
Watching the Cows harass each other made for relaxing conversation. The Cows are kept a distance from the house by electric fence. so they never came closer than, say 50 feet or more to the house. That was plenty of yardage for our own use. Prior to arriving I had some anticipation that there might be some odors from the Cows. But I could not notice any odors. In fact the only time we knew the Cows were there was when we looked for them.
The times that we drove "To Town" We found farm stands where we could buy fresh fresh local fruits or vegetables along the highway from local residents. In fact all the local people we interacted with (in stores, stands and antiques shops). They were all friendly and pleasant.
My only concern would be the speed of traffic on the main road near the house. The road is plenty far from the house and even though the traffic was light the rain would make the traffic a little louder (but not a problem). When we pulled on to the road (from any location in town) I would find vehicles come close to the back of my car as we built up speed to match the rest of the traffic. Then (a few times) I had concerns about the distance of vehicles behind me as I slowed to make my turn onto the property.
Over all we enjoyed our stay, had no regrets and would like to do it again someday. After we left, we shared our story of satisfaction with all our family and friends that we visited while in the State. I only wish that took more pictures of the a
Great mix of scenery but close to entertainment!
Loved hanging out looking at the beautiful scenery from the back patio! Was super relaxing. First day took a small hike on the trail in the back of the house. Second day went ziplining 10 minutes away from the house- a must! Third day visited the bridge of flowers (not a flower person but this is special) and walked through the quaint shops in Shelburne Falls. Was very relaxing. House was clean and well stocked. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Great for a weekend getaway
We stayed here 2 nights with our 2 5-year-olds and baby. Very well-kept and clean. Lots of games and some kids' books stashed away for entertainment. The pumpkin bread was a nice plus! The house is on Rte 2 but is set far back from the road, so traffic noise was not really an issue.
“Better than Disney World” -Cameron Age 7
My boys absolutely loved this country house! The cows in the back, the private hiking forest, the homemade pumpkin bread waiting for us! My 7 year old said it was better than Disney- lol!
I only wished we had stayed longer. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space and a well stocked kitchen. Downtown Shelburne Falls is only 5 min away and very cute and quaint. We went white water rafting at Berkshire East- 1-3 class rapids - a good starter rafting adventure for my young boys. Loved everything about this trip!
Loved the property and the service. Perfect escape in the Berkshires
We loved this house! It had everything stocked, was clean and quiet. It felt like home. The cows out back just added to the experience. We will be back when we return to this area. We highly recommend this property.
Great Location for College Touring Western Mass.
We picked this house because it was halfway between the colleges in the Amherst area and the colleges closer to the New York border. The house was great--we loved the Pumpkin Bread, having the three bedrooms, space to spread out and relax after a day of touring. The shower had great water pressure. The twins beds were comfy according to my children. The 2nd bedroom had a very soft mattress. The 3rd bedroom has a firm mattress. The Kitchen worked fine--although I would have loved access to a pot that I could steam veggies in but I improvised. It's right on Rt. 2 so easy access to the main roads we were traveling on but far enough off the road so the road noise was not an issue. Quick access to Shelburne Falls--we had dinner one night at the West End Pub-very nice. We missed seeing the cows but it could have been because of the unprecedented cold weather/snow. Would definitely stay again.
