A wonderful week in Maine!
My friend and I had a wonderful vacation in Grace's house - beautiful nature, the loons and other birds, the forest, the lake... Complete tranquility. There was very good bathing, the water was warm and clean. We were lucky with the weather - only one day it was raining, the rest of the days were sunny, but not too hot.
We went several times to Camden, to a restaurant and to buy food, it is a very beautiful town.
What I missed was the ladder for getting into the water from the dock. The bottom is stony, and it's not very pleasant to enter the lake.
The house itself is clean and cozy. But it doesn't seem convenient to stay there for more than 2-3 people, since the acoustics are such that one can hear every step and movement.
Fantastic lakeside getaway!
I can't say enough great things about this cottage. When we arrived there were fresh bouquets of flowers placed throughout the cottage! The cottage is located right on the lake with a beautiful dock that you can swim and/or fish right off of. The water is crystal clear and NO muck or weeds to have to worry about! I counted three pairs of Loons that would swim right up the the dock, a pair of Bald Eagles that fished every morning, it is really a nature lovers paradise. The Cottage was well equipped with everything you could possibly need, including lobster eating tools, pots, etc., Super comfy beds! Great location, 12 minutes to Camden. I would highly recommend!
Wonderful getaway place
Great place to explore Maine from. Quaint cottage on the lake moderately furnished with day trips to Acadia or islands possible. Good fishing from the dock. Easy for kids to catch white perch by the dozens and plenty of largemouth and smallmouth bass for anglers. We caught a lot bass with the canoe a short paddle away in the reeds. Ad doesn't mention it but cottage has WI-Fi and Dish tv....A great experience...
The cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Excellent location, by a beautiful & quiet pond, yet not too far from Camden. We enjoyed kayaking & swimming in the pond. The cottage itself is very well equipped, and the size was perfect for us (family of five). We could not have picked a better place!
Great place to stretch out and relax. Also a good place to stay if you like to fish.
Really enjoy the outside area which includes the deck, fire pit and dock. The kayaks and canoe were used every day and helped with the number of bass caught each day. Four inch jerk baits and top water plugs worked the best. Morning sun rise from the deck and dock were amazing and the Loons sang to us all night. The chicks hatched while we were there and rode on the backs of their parents when we paddled by. The house met our needs for the group of two couples as this is a true cottage and that is what we wanted. We were close to the big city of Camden for sailing ( Schooner Olad) and eating lunch out and also for shopping. We have stayed in Camden several times, but now that we know where Hobbs pond is, we will be going there to stay and visit the town when we want. We stayed 6-18 thru 25-2016. Bass sizes 8" to 4 lb. 1 fifteen inch brown trout. Would stay again in the future.
Fantastic rustic cottage right on the water
My husband and I been here for three years running and it just keeps getting better! This time we came earlier than usual (May instead of July and August) and enjoyed crisp morning sunrises and hikes up the mountain surrounded by the most vibrant greenery. We even caught a glimpse of a sweet little baby fox!
We usually use this week as a time to reset our senses and get back to nature: no television blasting, screens glaring, just us and the loons and the occasional owl. There is a tv and some dvds, but I much prefer, if anything, just throwing on the radio and listening to some oldies.
Unfortunately this past visit my husband was asked to work remotely (he's a software engineer) and was able to use his phone- which had pretty strong service- to create a wireless connection, and so was able to complete his project while we dipped our toes in the lake!
