Appoggiato su oltre 14 ettari privati, l'Heroncrest è stato costruito intorno al 1840 e vanta viste panoramiche sull'oceano, graziosi prati, giardini perenni e esposizione a sud. Goditi albe, tramonti e al chiaro di luna sulla pittoresca baia di Penobscot in questa casa arredata con mobili antichi e opere d'arte originali.

Ci sono 2 bagni: quello al piano di sotto ha una doccia walk-in, quello al piano di sopra ha una vasca artiglio piedi affascinante. Due camere da letto al piano superiore hanno una splendida vista dell'acqua e isole lontane attraverso gli abbaini. La camera da letto sud al piano di sotto ha anche vista sull'acqua, mentre l'altra camera da letto al piano di sotto ha una vista tranquilla sul retro boschi.

La sala da pranzo offre viste sull'acqua a sud. Le porte scorrevoli in vetro conducono ad un tranquillo terrazzo che si affaccia sul prato sul retro e sui boschi. Il soggiorno, la sala giochi al piano di sopra e al piano superiore prestano spazio privato a tutti. Sono inclusi biancheria in cotone 100%, asciugamani grandi e lavatrice e asciugatrice al piano principale.

La cucina ben attrezzata è fornita con gustosi chicchi di caffè e mulino, tè assortiti, zucchero, spezie, olio d'oliva e aceto di vino. C'è persino un cavalletto d'aglio appena fuori dalla porta della cucina!

Per i giorni di pioggia, c'è la connessione internet, TV, DVD e alcuni giochi da tavolo. Oppure puoi prendere un libro dallo scaffale e rannicchiarti per una buona lettura davanti al camino.

La collina dietro Heroncrest è una riserva boschiva di 100 acri, ideale per le ciaspole in inverno e per passeggiare in estate.

Heroncrest si trova a meno di un miglio dalla favolosa biblioteca rotunda del centro di Searsport, dai negozi di antiquariato, dai ristoranti e dal famoso Museo Marittimo di Penobscot. Circa la stessa distanza dalla casa è Moosepoint State Park. A volte, una bella orchidea selvaggia può essere vista lungo il sentiero lì. Belfast, con le sue passeggiate artistiche del venerdì sera, mercato contadino e festival stagionali è a 10 minuti. Acadia National Park e Bar Harbor si trovano a un'ora di macchina.

Midcoast Maine ha un servizio di autobus che ti porterà a meno di un miglio della casa. Tuttavia, se desideri esplorare tutto quello che c'è nella zona, una macchina sarebbe essenziale. C'è un seggiolino auto, alcuni giubbotti di salvataggio, un pacco e gioco e un seggiolino per il tavolo disponibile a casa per i nostri piccoli ospiti.

Perfect Spot

This was the perfect spot to stay with my husband, our four year old son, my parents, and our two dogs. The house was clean and very spacious with more than enough room for us all. The yard is beautiful and peaceful. We were lucky enough that our stay fell while the lupins, peonies, and roses were all in bloom all over the property. There were fireflies in the evening over the field. We had easy day trips all over the midcoast: Boothbay and the botanical gardens, Camden, Belfast, Castine, Stonington, and Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observatory. My son's favorite was the Solstice Festival in Sears Island. So much to see and do nearby but the home was private and quiet. Check in and out could not have been easier. Can't wait to come back to the area!

Lovely Home and Beautiful Perennial Gardens

My husband and I had a wonderful extended stay at this lovely home. Carolyn’s photographs and details of Heroncrest really appealed to me and the home and property exceeded my expectations. I felt peacefulness and tranquility both inside the home and sitting outside surrounded by all the fragrant and colorful perennial gardens. The kitchen offered everything you might need or want, including a collection of cookbooks, a variety of spices, and every kitchen tool you would need. Each and every room is beautifully appointed and inviting. The home is located in a great location near restaurants and so many activities. We visited the Botanical Gardens in Booth Bay and Acadia National Park during our stay. Heroncrest is a treasure, and Carolyn is an excellent and lovely host. We stayed at this wonderful home while we awaited our new granddaughter’s birth and her arrival and Heroncrest will always be interwoven in my heart.

"Home Sweet Home"

Dawn's Review: My husband Gerard and I had the privilege of staying at Heroncrest the first week of October. From our first conversation with the property owner, Carolyn Hearne several days before our trip we had the feeling we were talking to a long time friend. The moment we arrived we could feel the peace and beauty of our surroundings (inside and outside the house). It was like stepping into the home of a cherished relative from the past as we explored the ramblings rooms which included a large kitchen, dining room and living room and many bedrooms all decorated with exquisite antiques which perfectly complimented this 1840's home that was built by a Sea Captain. Every room was a reflection of the love and beauty of Carolyn's personal touch. We were surprised and pleased to discover 2 cozy sitting rooms (where we would spend the evenings). During the day we enjoyed spending time on the back deck and in the charming weathered gazebo out front. October was a perfect time of year to visit with the colorful leaves, warm days and cool evenings. Carolyn's home was a piece of heaven. She is an amazing hostess and was available throughout our stay by text and phone to answer any questions we had. Disappointing

There were many wonderful things about our family trip to Maine and part of which included where we stayed. The house was in a good location with easy access to multiple towns and places to explore, but out of the busyness and traffic of other areas. Acquire a piece of landWith turkeys and deer and other wildlife. The homeowner was very responsive. The difficulties were about structural issues of the house that caused several hassles, inconveniences and frustrations that interfered with our stay. The cleanliness and outdated and overused stay in kitchen towels also were disappointing.

Searsport vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed this house. It was much bigger than we expected, loaded with nice extras and so comfortable for our family reunion in Maine. We hired a local photographer to take family pics in the beautiful yard. Thank you, Carolyn. We loved it!

Hi, I'm Carolyn!
I grew up on a dairy farm with 5 siblings in Chester County, PA. From the time I was a teenager, my panacea was to spend a week on Islesford in Maine where I painted pictures, made stained glass windows out of found beach glass, played Mozart on the piano and read and discussed poetry with my writer/artist friends.

Raised as an activist Quaker, I worked with voter registration in Mississippi, did community organization and helped teenagers get their GED's in eastern Kentucky, taught art in a community college in Harlan County, Kentucky and established one of the first Parent Child Centers that addressed education from birth to three.

Because I felt strongly about being with my children from birth to three, I started a small retail business that has since morphed into two retail shops in northern Colorado where we specialize in comfort footwear and clothing. My daughter Maia manages one of our shops where she brings my 3 year old granddaughter Artemis to help in the same way her mother helped me many years ago.

Ever since I was a teenager, I wanted a place in Maine. After searching for over a year, I discovered the slice of heaven that is Heroncrest. It is private and sunny and the views out to the islands are postcard perfect. And it feels so safe! The neighbors are salt of the earth and I would love to share the magic that I found so many years ago with any who wish to create their own memories.
