Loved our stay at the Marlon Brando's bungalow
We had an amazing experience at the bungalow. The bungalow is big - we were a family of 4 and the kids had lots of fun. It was super-relaxing to wake up to the sound of water splashing against the pillars.
.. And the best part of the trip was Nir. Nir is an amazing property manager and he was always there to help us.
And
Awesome! Will return
Love this bungalow and will be back.
Thank you Nancy! Hope to have you back again!
Many thanks :)
Perfect Vacation
The overwater bungalow we stayed in was perfect for our family. It’s located in a small quiet neighborhood on the beach. Very quiet. Everything was comfortable and clean. The view is beautiful! You can swim right off the bungalow and also use the kayak that is provided. My daughters fed the fish right out their bedroom window and from the bungalow’s deck. It was great having a kitchen as you can cook your own meals. Nir is the manager for the bungalow, he is the best!! So friendly and attentive. He met us upon arrival with the rental car which is brand new and was very comfortable. We really enjoyed meeting and talking to Nir. He is knowledgeable and can help you with any questions about Bora Bora. Being on the main island and having a car made it so easy. It was nice to be around the local Tahitians as they are so friendly and relaxed. Having the car made it easy to get around, you need it to go everywhere especially the grocery stores and shops. We drove to Matira beach to swim almost every day.
Overall it was ok. 👌🏼
For the amount it costs to stay in the Bungalow, I expected a little nicer place. Sheets and towels are old and dark brown. Curtains are dark burnt orange. Dark furniture. Dark cabinets. Windows dirty. Dark, beat up wood flooring throughout.
I already spoke with Nir about the cleanliness issue. And also the need to update and renovate the the bungalow.
Nir was really great to deal with and he was very helpful answering questions, even providing a local phone for us to use during our stay AND a car to rent which we really appreciated. We loved Nir - he’s a joy.
I think the owners need to invest some money into the place to make it nicer, especially since it’s not cheap to stay there. The beds are super firm and uncomfortable, so softer/adjustable beds would be great. The windows are also in need of cleaning to see the beautiful views. I forgot to tell him about needing a pest control service - there were tiny ants all over the kitchen and little spiders.
The WiFi was great, and the location was great. We enjoyed having a full kitchen to cook in. I would suggest getting a hand mixer, a blender, and some measuring cups for cooking/baking.
Overall we had a wonderful time there and would recommend people to stay there - I would just warn them that it feels like a rustic old cabin, and you might need to give it a good scrub down when you get there.
I spoke with Nir after reading your review. I remember that you did not book the bungalow yourself and were therefore not informed about the fact that it was a private over water home. We are very clear both with photos and with descriptions of what our clients can expect... A resort was probably what you were expecting. I am very sorry you found the bungalow less than what you expected. As I say in our advertising, these Over water bungalows were built in the early seventies and I have invested more money than you can imagine in remodeling and with their upkeep.
We recently added full air conditioning, high speed Wifi, new furniture, new bathroom and kitchen, the curtains were made less than a month ago and the mattress's just arrived from Tahiti. I apologize if you don't like our decorating taste, but all of our other clients seem to love it... We are always checking maintenance, paint, etc. The upkeep is constant and if you had a problem with cleanliness, all you had to do was ask. Nir would have sent someone to clean right away. Ants are only there when food is left out and I believe Nir should have told you that. If you tried to rent a place anywhere the size of this bungalow at one of the resorts, you would be paying five to ten thousand a night. We are $420.00 a night. Again, I am sorry you didn't find us up to par, but we are constantly trying to improve and do appreciate your input. The scores of 5 Star reviews also speak for themselves.
Fabulous Bungalow
I recently visited bora bora with my two sisters, and it was a little slice of heaven. The bungalow is as exactly as advertised and for the price and experience of being on the main island it is hands down the best for the money. We rented a car from Nir, which was a great price as well, and was able to enjoy the local gourmet at the many delicious restaurants and bask in the sun at the fantastic public beach. Over and over we were told while we were there how smart we were to rent this bungalow opposed to staying at one of the resorts because the resorts are not on the main island and if staying at one you would have to take a water ferry across and then, again, without a car it would be hard to be able to shop and/or dine. We did a snorkeling tour one day and our guide was able to pick us up at our water bungalow-so convenient!! Nir is fantastic to work with, he is very accessible and gave us his cell phone so we were able to communicate with him locally. He gave us great recommendations which one was to attend Heiva which is put on only during the month of July-it was AWESOME! Thanks for such an amazing trip and looking forward to returning!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! We love to hear that our efforts to make our clients happy are successful! Looking forward to seeing you again in the near future!
Great Way to Experience Bora Bora
Thank you to Richard and Seiko for sharing this lovely home and making it possible for us to experience Bora Bora. We loved having a home base and car, shopping in local markets, bringing in take-out from a tiny "restaurant" we found nearby and generally getting the feel for local life. Our favorite time of day was breakfast on our deck, watching the rowers go by and gazing on the motu across the lagoon...ah, we wish we could transport ourselves there now.
A car was essential - and we appreciated that the owners were honest and clear about that in advance. Nir, the manager, was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We rented a car from him and it was perfect and reasonably priced.
The winds were strong and currents a bit rough when we visited, so, unfortunately, we did not swim from the bungalow or use the kayak (although we loved that there was a kayak!). We drove to Matira Beach instead, which was lovely - nice sand beach and plenty of shallow, calm waters (though it can get deep suddenly, so be sure to watch less confident swimmers) and great lunch options there too. The restaurant recs from the owners were spot on too - we had very good lunches at Matira Snack, Fare Manuia (which was especially delicious), and Aloe Cafe. We had a lovely dinner at Bora Bora Yacht Club, which was desirable (after a long day) for being the closest restaurant to the bungalow!
We did not do a lagoon tour because we had already done something very similar on Moorea (swimming with rays, snorkeling) and we highly recommend doing that. Our teenage children went jet-skiing one day and that hour was one of the highlights of their trip.
