This home is a unique and rare place; beautiful in every way. The aesthetics of the home are spectacular. The artwork and artifacts throughout the house represent a collection that has been culled over a long period of time and from many places across the globe. Jeanette Phillips (owner) is a delightful individual. She spent some time with our family and we learned a little about her adventurous and fascinating circumnavigation of the globe in her sailboat. We had an exceptional time at the house with a lot of family and friends. But when it came time to leave, we walked away from the visit feeling restored and really grateful for the time there. The property is more than what is described. Camden and Rockland Center are close by and worth checking out. The house is an easy and short drive to places where there are lots of things to do. But the lure of the deck and views from the house provide a tempting alternative if you just want some time to breathe and relax.
Thank you for this very detailed and personal review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The house was in perfect shape when you left, with the addition of gorgeous flowers!
Also many thanks for helping us move the skiff to the basement...my family enjoyed meeting you all as much as I did.
I hope to see you again.
Wonderful host, spectacular house, unparalleled views
Having grown up in the area, I’m always amazed at the beauty of the Mid-Coast. However, I’ve never been to a point that has so spectacularly captured the majestic nature of this part of Maine. The house is absolutely stunning, and very well-maintained. It is convenient to cook in, live in, and use as a homebase for all the fun activities Mid-Coast has to offer. Cannot recommend staying here enough!
Fantastic views! Beautiful tranquility! Great location, close to Rockland!!
This home was large enough that everyone felt they had adequate privacy, even though it was a well designed open concept. Simple interior made it especially children friendly!! Everything was thought of!! Wonderful central local to meet up with our Maine family and friends!! Jeanette was very easy to work with and a wonderful hostess!
Thank you sooo much!!!
And many thanks for leaving the house in perfect condition.
The gladiolus are spectacular!
We loved our stay. The house is perfectly laid out along the edge of the mountain overlooking
Chickawaukee Pond and the Maine Coast. The shower in the Master Bath was delightful. The kitchen is a beautifully laid out, as is the whole house, and everything in it was a delight to use. Many choices in the kitchen for enjoying a different table setting with each meal. If you like to cook and entertain, you will love the ambiance throughout the house. Everything about it: the decks, the rocks, the gardens, the furniture, the twists and turns both inside and out, all with a view of something to treasure while you are there and long after your vacation is over. Thank you, Jeanette, we had a wonderful time at your very unique property!
The property has incredible views that just take your breath away and the home is very comfortable and very spacious. The kitchen was well equipped and there are plenty of extra blankets if it gets chilly at night. The only thing I would have liked is to have the furniture in the living room to be a bit more welcoming to lounge and cuddle with the family.
Jeanette was a pleasure to deal with and very attentive.
Thank you Jeanette for sharing your home with us, it was a blessing to be able to experience a bit of heaven on earth.
BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY SEASON
I keep returning to this wonderful home which reveals the best of mid-coast Maine in every season of the year. Winter takes on a quiet magic as the light filters through pines and leafless trees across a wide expanse of sea and sky. The possibility of snowfall, passing wild turkey and rabbits, and occasional fog soften the world viewed from within all the tall-windowed rooms. Fireplace, wood stove, vases of flowers, colorful kilims and oriental rugs warm me as much as my mug of soothing mulled tea. The well-appointed kitchen invites me to make hearty meals to enjoy at my leisure! A more perfect way to experience the cooler days I cannot find. Shops in Rockland, galleries, restaurants all open to browse or find that special something to bring back home with me and remind me of the great time I've had here. So now I am about to return again in December to charge my pre-holiday batteries. A great gift I give myself! Thanks to owner Jeanette for always making Sunrise Summit feel like my second home.
