Comfortable, beautiful spot to spend a relaxing week
We loved the house, and the location. Everything we needed was provided. We did make a run for extra paper supplies and dishwashing detergent, etc, but it was great to have fresh linens provided. Beds were comfortable. Tons of movies and books, and a beautiful ocean view. Eagle landed in tree on corner of property and they flew over every morning. Wildlife preserve nearby, St. Andrews a lovely town to visit, border crossing easy, we used one by the rotary. IGA good grocery, DD in town. Not a lot of places to eat there, but we did try out Friendly Restaurant. The Gables in St. Andrews, good food and beautiful water view. Whale Watching on sea zodiacs out of St. Andrews a terrific trip. Drove to Campobello Island and at Cove saw Eagles, Seals and Whales from shoreline. Beach at the house a little tricky to get to due to rocks. Need to be agile to get down to the beach. Watch those tides, they change quickly. Only other suggestion is more screens in windows. Unusually hot weather on our trip, and we could have used more air throughout the house. Otherwise a wonderful stay. Thank you Jim.
A Piece of Paradise
We had such a fun, relaxing week at the house on Mill Cove, and we were so glad we were able to return for our second year.
The house itself is clean, neat and well equipped. Bring your food and you are all set. With all the DVD and VHS movies and TV shows, and wide assortment of books you will never miss TV or the internet. We certainly didn't.
With passports in hand we made two trips to Canada which were only a short drive: 1 day in St. Stephens and St. Andrews, and 1 day on Campobello. Both were great trips.
The trips were fun but it is hard to leave the cottage. You cannot beat the views. Daily we saw seals, loons, ducks, cormorants, and other sea birds. The highlight was the daily sighting of a pair of bald eagles and their immature youngster. A couple of times they spend were hunting for crabs directly in front of the house on the seaweed covered rocks at low tide.
Pulpit Rock is well worth the walk. The sea has made some very cool formations in the rocks in that area. On the walk back from Pulpit Rock keep your eye out for sand dollars as well as other seashells and interesting rocks.
We hope to be able to return again next year. When we are there the house feels like home.
Beautiful peaceful setting great for relaxing
Awesome cottage on the point with fantastic views. Its a great location for relaxing or adventure. Plenty of privacy and you have your own rocky beach front. We enjoyed the peaceful environment falling asleep to the sounds of the water. There was a seal that visited the cove each morning and loons in the evenings. We saw an eagle and around the cottage there were plenty of birds if you like birdwatching. Woodpeckers, bluejays, hummingbirds, goldfinches, wood thrush, Canadian warblers, sap-suckers to name just a few. Its a great place for photography. My dad spent most of his time painting and enjoying his artwork. We went for walks along the beach over to pulpit rock. Be prepared for the hike and enjoy the incredible views. We had beautiful sunny days. However thick fog rolled in each night. A great experience for us who have never seen such a thing. The fog burned off with the sun by 10 or so in the morning around the cottage. It added to the mystic of the area. We visited Eastport for shopping and dinner at the Chowder house and also picturesque Lubec and ate at the Fisherman's warf the Inn on the warf. The highlight was the Quoddy head lighthouse and park. The views of the rocky coast is a must see. The cottage is a great location to enjoy the hiking and with so many parks and trails to enjoy. We had plenty of fun with the games and movies in the evening popping popcorn. It was great to disconnect from TV and the computer. The cottage is well equipped for cooking if you don't go out every night. Its nicely decorated to make you feel right at home near the water. Its an old cottage with that old cottage feel. After dinner we went for walks but make sure you have bug spray and wear long sleeves. The mosquitoes come out at night. There were no issues with insects through the day. I definetly could go on about how wonderful it was just sitting on that swing watching the tide come in and go out. I truly recommend this Maine cottage experience to everyone. We will never forget it. Thank you!
What a great place!
We loved Maine! Sunrise in the backyard was amazing each day saw eagles and seals too!
Unplug and get ready for a truly relaxing, fun and adventure filled vacation. Jim and Sherry’s cottage is everything you want and more. Everything mentioned in the overview is spot on and one only has to take advantage of all the wonderful choices of activities, both at the cottage and in the surrounding areas. Super views, super comfort, super amenities, and super thoughtful hosts.
Our granddaughter even asked us to buy the place and, believe us, she has great taste! Do not hesitate — book now!
