Louise and Chester Rendell are long time residents of Paihia and originally purchased the property in 1983 when it was a Motel and Tea House. It took about six weeks for them to work out that there was no money in “scones, jam and cream”, and it wasn’t long before the ‘Courtyard Restaurant’ morphed out of the original Tea House. Later this became ‘Bistro 40’ and then ‘Only Seafood’ was established above Bistro 40 in 1991.
Fast forward to 2019, Chester and Louise decided to re-open the restaurant, JFC - Just Fish & Chips, with the simple aim of providing just good, honest fish & chips. JFC - Just Fish & Chips only purchases fresh fish. Another point of difference is the delicious crunchy chips which are handmade at the restaurant. Produce is sourced in the Bay of Islands first, Northland and certainly New Zealand if at all possible.
If you are looking for an all-in-one Bay of Islands experience, stay at our Bayswater Holiday Home which is located behind the JFC Restaurant. With stunning sea views and all the facilities needed for a very comfortable stay, it’s your home away from home!
At JFC you can dine in or takeaway and it’s fully licensed.
Come on in and experience something special!
