May we introduce you to Villa Aragona?
A substantial holiday home, easily welcoming up to eighteen guests, Villa Aragona is the ultimate luxury escape; steeped in history, with breathtaking views and wonderful gardens.
Pool and Jacuzzi
New for 2015 is a brand new swimming pool and Jacuzzi. Surrounded by wooden decking, the pool is a blissful place to relax in the sunshine, with the views stretching out before you. The heated Jacuzzi is for up to eight people. It is filled with spring water from a well in the grounds and purified with chlorine-free products. Measuring approximately 2.5m square, it is the perfect place to unwind. Afterwards, soak up the sunshine on a sun lounger, or chill out beneath the shade of one of the ancient trees.
History
Standing proudly on the hillside, midway between the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, Villa Aragona has occupied this glorious landscape since 1600, when it began life as a manor farm. It is still surrounded by around two acres of land, rich with fruit and citrus trees; and a large olive grove, still yielding a crop of extra virgin oil to this day.
Although the building itself has undergone several transformations through the ages, the atmosphere of peace, and the sense of belonging to the land remains. The original farming tools lie on display as a reminder of the rural history of the families who have made Villa Aragona their home in years gone by.
Gardens
The Mediterranean garden is simply beautiful, encircling and protecting the house as it has done for centuries. Each season offers something to admire, from the flowers of the magnolia tree in spring, to the scent of jasmine and ripening fruits in summer; from the falling leaves of the oak trees in autumn, to the structured boughs of the cypress and pine trees in winter.
Guests are welcome to help themselves to organically grown produce, including many fresh herbs. The huge variety of fruit trees within the gardens include passion fruit, kiwi, apple, pear, cherry, apricots, plums, mulberries, cherries, elderberries, pomegranates, oranges, tangerines, lemons and figs – and there is a pergola of grapes, delicious in the autumn!
Beauty and spiritual yoga retreat
Many of our guests enjoy Villa Aragona as a beauty or spiritual yoga retreat. There is a lovely calm studio in which to practise, a zen room, plus the opportunity to book yoga lessons with an experienced professional teacher. Other therapies are also on offer, including Healing Therapy, plantar reflexology and beauty treatments, including manicures, pedicures, hair cutting and styling, and waxing.
The main villa - ground floor
The property itself comprises of a substantial main villa and a separate annex in the gardens, next to the yoga studio.
Renovated throughout, the villa retains the atmosphere of the past, with wooden beamed ceilings, tall shuttered windows, antique fireplaces and fine furnishings, carefully selected to complement each room. There is an internet Wifi connection, plus central heating, chargeable at €5,00 per M3. Air conditioning is available in the annex, but is not required in the main villa, where the ancient walls keep the air cool throughout the year.
You enter the villa on the ground floor. On your right hand side, you will find a cigar room with a double sofa bed, a mobile bar, well stocked with a selection of rums and liqueurs.
On the left there is the first of three living rooms, four steps lead down to one of six double bedrooms. The bathroom offers a small bath, a wash basin, bidet and toilet.
Also on the ground floor is the first of two kitchens and a dining room, where you will find a double sofa bed.
The small kitchen is charmingly equipped with an authentic bread oven – perfect for making pizzas. We are happy to arrange for a Pizzaiolo professional to come to your villa and show you the traditional art of pizza making. Your party can then enjoy a delicious meal, tasting a variety of pizzas made with wonderful local ingredients.
From the kitchen, stairs lead down to a small cellar, where wines and liqueurs are stored. The dining room has access to a seating area outside, with tables, chairs and umbrellas. Just one of many charming places to eat al fresco within the extensive gardens of the property.
The main villa - first floor
Twelve steps take you to the first floor of the villa. Here you will find three double bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms.
From the terrace on the second floor, you can breathe in the timeless view of the Bay of Naples, dotted with the Islands of Capri, Procida and Ischia. It is hard to conceive of a better place to enjoy an aperitif at sunset!
There are two sitting rooms on the second floor, with comfortable sofas and satellite television. Both have panoramic views of the hillsides sweeping down to the blue sea beyond.
The kitchen on the second floor is very well equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer and the small appliances you would expect. Outside on a small balcony is the washing machine.
There is also a beautiful master bedroom with en suite shower room. With exposed wood beams and breathtaking views through windows on two sides, this is a truly special place to wake up in the morning.
