Siamo stati a dir poco piacevolmente sorpresi.
The apartment is located in a nice area, less then 15 minutes from the metro stop “Ottaviano” or San Pietro by bus/walk. The 5th floor house can be accesed by lift. The bathrooms are fairly big and well equipped, the bedrooms are well furnished and the kitchen has all amenities, including a toaster and a coffee machine. The terrace follows the whole perimeter of the interior and gets wider in two areas, with wooden deckchairs, chairs and tables and a nice view.
The owners are Flavio and Antonella, his mother. They really made us feel comfortable since the beginning. They told us all about the house, how things work, then about the neighbourhood and gave us advices about touristic attractions. They even gave us mini guides they made themselves about restaurants, shops and gelaterias, with prices and food description. Finally, every day they provided breakfast for the following day for no additional cost and gave us a farewell gift.
thank a lots we have read it with very interest your mind .
i hope see next time
A home in Rome
The Aurelio was a wonderful experience for us during our month in Rome; spacious, clean, comfortable, and well located in a pleasant neighbourhood well served by public transit, as well as being a short walk (about 20 minutes, depending on your stride) due south to the Ottaviano metro station and a further 5 minutes to the Piazza San Pietro. There are a number of good local restaurant choices and the kitchen is well equipped for light cooking. Nearby is a convenient Punto grocery store, small but incredibly well stocked for our purposes, as well as a fruit and vegetable shop, bakery and dairy shop within a block of the building. And it was always a pleasure to see Antonella and Mattia every evening when they came to stock up our breakfast supplies (we loved the wonderful Italian coffee!); they were particularly helpful with suggestions and answers to any queries we may have had. (Antonella surprised me with a birthday crostata—molto gentile!) The air conditioning in the bedrooms was much appreciated and the bathrooms were modern and spotless! For us, though, the real highpoint of staying at the Aurelio was the grand terrace that envelops the entire apartment on three sides; we loved hanging out and dining on the large rear portion with its spectacular views of the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica glowing in the distance to the south and the nearby greenery on Monte Mario to the west, gleaming in the morning sun! It was a real pleasure to return to the Aurelio after our daily outings: it always felt like we were returning to our home in Rome!
A terrace to remember
When I booked the Aurelio for a month, I was initially drawn to its convenient location in Prati: only a 30-minute walk away from the Vatican Library where I was going to conduct research. I also took the chance that the Aurelio would be a comfortable space for three people ─ myself, my partner John, and our friend Paul. The airy high-ceilinged apartment proved to be comfortable not only spatially (with two bedrooms and two bathrooms) but also socially, thanks to the cheerful visits every evening from our host Antonella and her assistant Mattia (who supplied us with fresh bread, orange juice, croissants, and coffee for our breakfasts). We noted the genuine warmth of their welcome as soon as we arrived, and by the end of our stay we knew for sure that we had gained new friends in Rome. We looked forward to our lively evening chats with them in both Italian and English on every topic under the sun ─ from Italian cinema of the 1960s to current issues in Roman urban development. Mattia and I even carried on a lively discussion of Dante's Vita Nuova, a text he was studying in school. Would such a conversation have happened in an impersonal modern hotel? Not very likely! We never felt their visits to be intrusive, or their concern for our welfare to be merely part of their job. When I accidentally broke a plastic water container attached to an outdoor water filtration system, Antonella and Mattia immediately reassured me that the container was old and needed replacing, and it was indeed replaced within a day or two. Their attentiveness to detail in turn reassured us that if anything should go wrong at the Aurelio, the problem would soon be attended to. Fortunately, after my mishap, nothing did go wrong. Every appliance worked efficiently, including the air conditioners, which was a blessing since the July temperatures soared into the high 30s C. When I needed a steam iron to press a shirt, hey presto: an iron and ironing board were placed in our vestibule. We would book the Aurelio again in a flash.Though the Aurelio does not have a formal living room, we found that the spacious terrace off the kitchen ─ with its table, chairs, benches, and flower pots─ functioned as our social gathering space, our common room. It was a joy to have breakfast there every morning with songbirds flying overhead, and it felt very Roman to be chatting over a bottle of wine on the terrace at dusk with the dome of St. Peter's in the distance. A truly special place.
we are thankful for your awesome thought
Grazie mile !
thank you for your mind we are very glad about it.
A wonderful place to stay
We loved staying at this lovely apartment. It was well furnished, with beautiful antique furnishings, a remodeled kitchen with a full size refrigerator and a washer. The landlord is very accomodating and helped us by providing a ride to and from the airport, giving a list of nice restaurants in the area and his mother, a very sweet lady, provided pastries, milk and juices (the red orange juice was great!) cookies and other goodies. Check in and out was easy. The apartment is located in a very nice and safe neighborhood. The apartment is extremely secure and we really enjoyed sitting on the beautiful terrace every evening, enjoying the views of the mountains and the dome of St. Peter's. Our favorite restaurant was Ristorante Pizzaria Candido. It is a small family run restaurant with great food. It caters mostly to the locals but they welcomed us as we ate there everyday. They treated us like family. We strongly recommend it and staying at this apartment. It gave us the experience of the local community and was away from the hustle bustle of the Vatican area. We will definitely stay there on our next visit
Very clean, good location, very nice landlord
We had had a bad experience in Rome recently, so I was a bit leery of this stay. But Flavio met us at the door, escorted us to our room, left a map and booklets explaining everything. Every day there were croissants, jam, milk, and juice waiting for us. Any problem was attended to promptly. The rooms were large, clean, the bathrooms were nice, and there was a lovely wraparound balcony with a lovely view. The bus stopped a block away, and it was a quick ride to the Metro. We were very happy and would stay here again.
thank you for your beautiful words, we like our jobs , you are welcome to come again.
