Perfect Mountain Getaway!
My husband and I really enjoyed our 2-night stay! The house was very clean, and had everything we needed for our weekend. Worked out really well for bringing our dog, too. The property and near by scenery is beautiful—we only wish it was warmer to enjoy it all! Pisgah National Forest is truly just around the corner, and was nice for a drive and short hike. Easy 30 min drive to/from Asheville/Biltmore. Jami was wonderful and extremely hospitable! We look forward to returning in the future.
Great Property Nice laid back location and Great Hosts
What more can be said. The home was nice and comfortable. Huge yard with a nice little pond with a floating dock. Very quiet area right next door to a farm and a horse ranch and Big Ivy forest right down the road. Get away from it all but still be close enough to the food and fun in Asheville and all that WNC has to offer.
Comfortable and clean!!
This place is SO COZY and SPARKLING CLEAN. We all enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the pond, chickens, games and puzzle. The dogs had the mountain side to roam, the kitchen had every amenity you could need and the beds were pretty comfy as well. The host were very friendly and would be glad to accomadate anything you need. With a 30 minute drive to downtown Asheville and less then 5 minutes into Pisgah I can’t think of one complaint! As mentioned in other reviews it does have well water (your in the mountains) but the cottage has a water softening and filtration system which makes the water great for cooking and bathing. It didn’t taste bad either but you can always drink bottled water. I would definitely recomend this place, it’s a steal for the price! truly a peaceful oasis!
We enjoyed meeting you and your wonderful family, thank you for being great guests. We take pride in ensuring our guests have everything they need to feel at home. The cabin will be ready by the end of the year so next time we can accommodate more of your friends and family. Come see us again.
A Quiet Get-Away
We love waterfall hikes so we were thrilled to find out there are 3 very nearby - 2 roadside and one a short hike in. Really beautiful! The house was cozy, the beds were comfortable, and the property was clean and well-maintained. We appreciated being able to bring our dogs! The only negative (as previously mentioned) was the strong rotten-egg smell in the water; they do provide filtered water in the fridge. Barnardsville doesn't offer any dining options but less than 30 minutes away is Weaverville with a number of very good restaurants. We had a terrific meal at The Glass Onion and highly recommend! Rachel and Jami are great and we hope to get back for another visit!
Catherine, we hope to see you and your husband and puppies again, thank you for taking care of our home and enjoying our comfy beds. We appreciate your feedback about the water and we understand the concern. The whole house is on a culligan water purification system, while the water has a slight odor at first, it is healthy to drink.
The dining options in and around Asheville are endless and Weaverville has many great options. Many of our guests have preferred to make use of the grill or smoker for a dinner at home.
We loved it there!
The house was super clean and had a very home-like feel. Our dog made herself right at home; enjoying the house and pond. My son loved the hammock and said his twin bed was comfy. I felt the owners were available but not intrusive. There was still a lot of privacy. This place is really tucked away from town, which I loved. Just make sure to pack snacks/food because restaurants are about a 30 minute drive. Also for future guests: Since it is pretty rural, the water smells like sulfur. No big deal, just strange if you’ve never experienced it. We had a really full schedule for the weekend. I wish we would’ve had more time to enjoy the house and it’s surroundings. I hope to come back soon!
Thank you for your comments and for taking good care of our home. We hope that our guests can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and seclusion with the comforts of home. The well water takes a second to get used to but quickly dissipates.
The whole hose is on a Culligan filtration system and there is filtered water in the fridge.
Goodnews, the next time you come the pond and hammock will be waiting for you.
