Lovely rainforest house
Beautiful and colourful place to stay while Monteverde. They wait you with a banana loaf and you feel like sleeping in a wooden cabin in the middle of the jungle. Remember to take some warm cloth with you. This is the coldest place in Costa Rica.
Great location and cozy feel
Our family overall enjoyed our two night stay. Location is a short walk/drive to Monteverdi cloud forest reserve. Directions to house were clear and it was easy to find. Days/ nights were cool but we packed appropriately and didn’t use wood stove, mostly because of the smaller children we had. Karen did a great job of showing us around when we arrived and was patient with our limited Spanish, she also used translator on phone to assist, which was much appreciated. Banana bread was delicious and much appreciated with our long drive and hungry kids. Washer ( no dryer ) is available but didn’t get a chance to wash muddy clothes as we were leaving early the next morning and our clothes wouldn’t have time to line dry. Nor did we bring laundry soap. A couple of negatives like no continuous hot water for showers, dirty sponge left in kitchen to clean the dishes with, no paper towels ( some cloth towels, but woudnt last long with our group of 5) and a rogue jungle cockroach in my suitcase left me with less than a 5 star review. Overall, comfy, cozy, beautiful and convenient location. Loved the use of compost and recycling! Thank you for allowing us to stay and experience the cloud forest!
Colorful and cozy, we had a great time!
Everyone was so nice and welcoming! The place was very cute and colorful and we had a wonderful time. Ronaldo came and helped us alight a fire because the place gets very cold at night (although they have plenty of blankets on hand). The banana bread was a nice touch when we arrived! We liked falling asleep to the wind at night.
Cabin in the woods of Monteverde
Our stay at Ira Rosa was above expectations, great welcoming by Karen, the house caretaker, who made sure all our needs were met and also helped us make reservation for a tour for Selvatura Park. Gabriela also helped us with reservations, and a guide for the daytime and evening Monteverde Cliud Forest ahead of our arrival. Great memories and highly recommend.
A great retreat for the whole family
We travelled with small children so it was important for us to have a home base to come back to. Casa Ira Rosa was just that! Off the beaten path but on the property with the owner, you have both privacy and seclusion but also get an experience a bit of living in Monteverde. Karen the housekeeper was super helpful in helping us book activities (at any hour when I lost track of the day) and left us a nice treat of banana bread that the kids devoured. Her suggestions for activities with our small children were dead on. Monteverde is a bit of a hard destination to get to but so worth the trip. Highly recommend the butterfly garden! Make sure you pack some warmer clothes for the evenings though! It’s easy to forget about the altitude and humidity when you’re coming from winter in North America.
Great little cabin, super close to the cloud forest reserve
We only had the opportunity to stay one night at this cabin, but it was great. It’s very close to the reserve but only about 10 minutes away from the hustle & bustle of town. It was a quiet and relaxing environment. The caretaker and really nice and met us with coffee and delicious homemade banana bread. I thought that was a nice touch. The house was super clean and had everything we needed for our short stay.
