We had a great time at Surf’s Up for a long weekend getaway. Just a few things that kept the rating from a 5-star.
Pros: House was clean, spacious and perfect for our group of 7. We had 4 adults and 3 kids and all had plenty of space. We made our own meals and kitchen was accommodating. Hanging out underneath the house in the evenings was great. Picnic tables, grill and porch swing all were wonderful adds. The location to the beach was perfect - with just a short walk or drive.
Cons: The first night, not long after we arrived, a breaker was tripped (for no apparent reason) and power was off in the back bedrooms and bathroom. We received a call back from property manager within an hour and was able to switch it back on ourselves. Second night, happened again. We then got a call another day later that an electrician would be onsite to take a look. We had to stay at the house to wait on him and adjust our schedule due to the last minute notification. The WiFi was also not working. We sent a message to let them know and ended up getting a call that someone would be out to check it and we had to be back at the house to wait on the tech to arrive. Upon his arrival, he determined new parts were needed and we were without WiFi then for our stay. We selected this property mainly as it was one of few with WiFi, so was very disappointed. Warning: without wifi, signal is spotty at best at the house. While I appreciate the prompt service, we did have to adjust our schedules to be available for these two appointments.
Also, the back porch door doesn’t close securely and we were woken up second night by high winds banging the door. We propped it open with a chair on the patio as a workaround fix.
