Excellent home, great location
My husband and I enjoy exploring the small hill towns in the Umbrian Valley. This newly, and lovingly, remodeled original Umbrian stone home in Silvignano was a perfect location for our 3 week stay this year. It is slightly north of Spoleto, giving us easy access via the SS3 to Trevi, Montefalco, Assisi, etc. while also having good roads to Todi, Amelia, Norcia and the mountain areas.
The home itself worked perfectly for our requirements. Due to physical limitations, we look for a home that has the master bedroom/bath on the same level as the kitchen. That’s what Ventinove provides. The ground floor has a large kitchen and dining room with a lovely sitting area, a nice master bedroom and bathroom with a great shower, and also a laundry room with a combination washer/dryer. We think this is the first home we’ve rented in Italy with a dishwasher ... a wonderful addition!
The house would also be great for a family with multiple children. Upstairs (which we didn’t use) are 2 more bedrooms both with bunk beds and loft sleeping and a huge living room complete with 2 sitting areas, a large TV and an excellent supply of books and videos.
A special benefit to us was this home is managed by Bianca. We met and fell in love with Bianca on our last trip to Umbria. She does an outstanding job of welcoming you into your home, explaining what to do and see in the area and quickly handling any questions to make your visit to Umbria the relaxed, special vacation you wanted. Bianca is definitely an asset to any visitor!
Our only issue was the car we rented (Alfa Romeo Giulia) was too large yet light weight (?) to easily park in Ventinove’s parking area; it couldn’t get traction to turn while backing out of the space on the slightly evaluated gravel road. Our great neighbor, Giovanni, came to our rescue and pushed us out. Just another example of why we love the Umbrian people so much. (His wife even brought us a peach tart later during our stay!). PS. After the first day, Bianca showed us where we could park at the bottom of the hill and walk up to the house.
All in all, another wonderful trip to our beloved Umbria!
Many thanks Karen and Jim for being such excellent guests and leaving such a considered review. It is always a delight to welcome people who really want to get to know, or return to this wonderful region. This is why we bought our house as we wanted a home not just a holiday villa that guests as well as our family and friends could be comfortable in for any length of time.
The wonderful Bianca is why we all have such a seamless experience every time. Nothing is too much trouble for her and she is super organised and knows everyone and everything that goes on the the region; we are very lucky.
With regards to the parking, there is indeed a number of parking spots in the village. We are lucky to have are own driveway as it is quite rare in the village. We have got used to it, even with a seven seater(!), however we completely agree it is not the ideal holiday experience. This autumn we are remodelling it to make it very much simpler to park.
Fabulous house in an amazing location
What a great week we had in this wonderful house. It was the beginning of March 2017 but the weather was still 20 C and sunny, what a luxury at this time of the year to be able to sun bathe in a deck chair taking in the most incredible views from the garden at Ventinove.
The house was only renovated and furnished 2 years ago so everything is almost as new really good quality, you can definitely tell it is a second home and not just a rental property.
We had a wonderful time visiting such a variety of attractions: ancient hill towns, rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards. The most amazing 50km cycle track from Spoleto to Assisi which we rode part way as a family having rented bicycles from a charming hire place with a great restaurant for post ride snacks.
We loved all the local restaurants and visited 4 or 5 within a 10 minute drive from the house serving the best local produce you are likely to find with welcoming owners.
My family and I (6 in total) highly recommend this house and the location and have already booked again for next year.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, I am so glad you love our house and the area. We are constantly finding new places to visit or eat at and love to hear of places discovered by our guests; an added bonus! We are happy that you have decided to return and look forward to welcoming back.
Can’t wait to go back!
This is the third time we have been back to Ventinove in the last 18 months – we absolutely love it. The
house is great and is of the highest quality throughout, the views from the garden and olive grove are
just breath taking and this area of Umbria is great for walking, cycling, culture and of course amazing
We come with our 2 teenage children but whether you have kids or are a group of adults there are
endless things to do. Throw in the fabulous all year round great weather and you just can’t go wrong
with this place. We strongly recommend you give a try.
Great to see you back again, we really love that you always find so many interesting things to do and that all your family have such a great time. You seem to love it as much as we do!
Fantastic authentic rural bolthole. So relaxing.
Spent 2 wonderful weeks here with a group of friends. The whole house was beautifully decorated with many little touches that made it feel like a home from home; a real difference from many of the usual soulless holiday properties on offer. We spent many evenings cooking in the very well equipped kitchen and there are plenty of different places to enjoy a quiet glass of wine while enjoying the large selection of books.
Though not large, the garden has plenty of room to enjoy the amazing views either from the shaded dining area or sitting on the lawn. Although we were a party of adults, Ventinove would also be good for families as is well equipped with children's books, toys and DVDs. There are a number of walks in and around the village, but a car is necessary to make the most of the area, which is stunningly unspoilt. We had wonderful days out in locally in Spoleto, Montefalco, Trevi and Spello. With the help of our lovely housekeeper, Bianca, we also organised a memorable day trip to Rome by train, totally stress free.
The owners provided lots of advice and recommendation for trips, food shopping and restaurants in the area. Everything we tried hit the mark and we were only sorry we did not have time to do more. We shall have to return very shortly
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. I am really glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back.
We have just had the most perfect holiday
What a brilliant house and location this is. We have rented lots of houses throughout Europe but this is definitely one of the best. The house is fitted out to the highest standards and we cannot think of anything that did not exceed our expectations.
The area is also stunning, the weather is perfect and the food absolutely outstanding. We had lots of day trips to the local hill towns, went to the spectacular Adriatic coast for sand and sea (this is 1hour 15 minutes drive) and visited a variety of local vineyards. The activities in this area are too many to mention, anyone visiting will not be short of things to do.
This holiday has definitely made it into our all-time top 5 and we have already booked to come back very soon.
I am delighted that you enjoyed our house as much as we do. It is always a bonus when people appreciate this fabulous area. Its seems like you really got the most out your holiday and very much look forward to welcoming you back.
A Wonderful House with Amazing Views
My Family and I spent a relaxing holiday here last summer. Ventinove was such a lovely house; brightly decorated with excellent quality furniture and with lots of books, games and dvds to make a really comfortable stay. We slept really well in the King size beds as did our children who fought to sleep in the mezzanine areas and loved having their own desk and hangout areas in the bedrooms. Bianca our housekeeper was very welcoming and helpful. We arranged for shopping and food to be prepared in advance and everything was perfect throughout our stay. It was difficult to get everyone out on trips as it was so tempting just to chill out at the house. However the wonderful village pool in the local mountain village was great fun for the children as was the people watching and the slides at the large pool in Trevi. There was a fantastic selection of local restaurants all within a 10 minute drive. During our stay we enjoyed excellent pizza, both takeaway and eat in, amazing chargrilled meats and homemade ice cream at a farm cafe, as well as many family run trattorias all serving excellent Umbrian food. When we couldn't be bothered to go out there were many fantastic food shops in the village at the bottom of the hill including farm shops selling estate oil and meat, a lovely lady selling amazing handmade pasta dishes, two more butchers curing and cooking their own meat, a fish shop with fresh and cooked fish, bakers, grocers and a super wine shop run by a lovely couple who also sell lots of interesting deli products. All this without even making it to the supermarket! Spoleto was enchanting as were all the lovely hill towns in the area. The children had great fun rafting in the Sibillini Mountains where we also visited the unique town of Norcia. One of the best holidays we have had as a family; there really was something for everyone both in terms of the charming house as well as the region.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We are always delighted when guests enjoy our house as much as we do and really immerse themselves in the area. We really feel so lucky to have a second home in such a wonderful area and love it when others appreciate it to the same extent.
