Staying at Campo Verde July 2010

We had a great stay at Campo Verde. The house is particularly well appointed and spacious with every convenience in place and thus a great place to return to after our daily trips to near and far. Craig and Mel were very helpful and knowledgeable. We found that the house was well located, with Santiago, Lugo and Pontevedra all within 1-1.5 hours journey. Our knowledge of Spanish/Castellano found instant favour with the local people in Vilatán and this made our holiday very memorable. For those interested in architecture or history, the village itself is interesting. Barry and Jean

Campo Verde is 5 star accommodation set in rural Calician countryside, the real Spain at its best. There is peace and quiet for those who want to get away from it all, but there are several towns with shops, cafe's and restaurants only a short drive away. The facilities within the farmhouse are first class making it home from home and our winter stay was made extra cosy by the log burning fire. Melanie and Craig have created an ideal holiday home suitable for both families and couples alike. Well done.

An enjoyable week in Galician Nirvana

My wife and I spent a very enjoyable 8 autumnal days in this idyllic spot in the Galician countryside in the Briggs' comprehensively refurbished stone property. A real "away from it all" haven, with no shops, beautiful countryside and great walking, yet within easy reach of a number of towns and villages, supermarkets, charismatic restaurants and interesting places to discover.
The Briggs have gone to great lengths to perceive using their place from the perspective of the tenant. They have provided well documented, detailed recommendations of numerous eating places in the vicinity, together with several cleverly devised and well compiled car tour suggestions each with explicit directions.
The house itself provides every comfort and is well equipped with almost everything one could need. The weather during our stay in late October could have been somewhat better, so we indulged in wood fires to brighten the evenings.
We can strongly recommend this venue for anyone wishing to experience this authentic region of Spain. A car is essential.

Our Holiday in Galicia

Having stayed on two previous occasions with these owners at a different property, we expected an exceptionally high standard and were not disappointed. The house, located in a small Galician village is ideally situated for access to local towns and for touring the picturesque countryside. A car is essential. The house is very well equipped, comfortable and immaculate. The owners make a point of calling round on the first morning to ensure that all is totally satisfactory and to advise on all local facilities etc. Realistic reviews of a range of restaurants, both local and further afield proved to be very helpful, including facilities allowing for our very limited knowledge of the Spanish language. Of particular benefit is a very well documented range of recommended self drive tours with points of historical and scenic interest highlighted; much more user friendly than the normal tourist guides.

Our holiday in Galicia

After spending our first week at the seaside, we were looking forward to being in the countryside - and Campo Verde provided the ideal base.
The information we received from the owners, was extremely helpful, including hand-drawn maps and details about the house and area. This converted farmhouse is surrounded by peaceful countryside. It has two outside terraces - one at the side of the house which is very private and one at the front, at the end of a lovely driveway up to the house.
The house itself is solid, stylish and sophisticated, with everything finished to the highest standard. We found it clean and offering every possible facility we could need. The owner offered to have a 'starter pack' of provisions bought in for us - and this was much appreciated after a long drive.
We found two books of information - one, listing all the house facilities with detailed instructions ...TV channels, washing machine, ceramic hob etc. The other book contained a collection of 'self-drive tours' to help us to find routes and interesting places in the immediate area and further afield. We were most impressed with this book. It allowed us to find special places that we would never have found on our own.
The owners were very friendly but they respected our privacy and were careful not to disrupt us more than necessary. The thing we most appreciated about Campo Verde (apart from the pleasure of living in such an elegant house) was its privacy - the side terrace is completely private. We were able to read and sun-bathe in complete peace and privacy.
We would not hesitate in recommending this property. We prefer to cook for ourselves, so we did not sample any restaurants, (but again, the owners had helpfully provided a selection of restaurant reviews.) We enjoyed visiting local towns, following the self-drive routes to places 'off the beaten track' and, as we are both keen water-colour painters, sketching and painting in the lovely Galician countryside. Campo Verde provided us with a peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable holiday experience.

Superb. The most relaxing, peaceful, interesting, & picturesque place We have stayed, in many years, exceding all expectations.

Wonderful place .. perfect peace !
This house was beautifully laid out and furnished and immaculately clean!
Our hosts coudn't have been more helpful and considerate providing welcome pack par excellence and incredible guide and touring information for the area.
We would and have recommended this property to friends and family .
The area is superb for either just chilling or visiting loads of historical buildings

Spring at Campo Verde

Campo Verde was just what we were looking for: a comfortable house in a quiet rural location well placed for site-seeing. The friendly, welcoming owners attention to detail was particularly notable, for example in the booklet of local tours without which we might not have appreciated all that the area has to offer. Satellite TV coverage of the FA and European Cup Finals was an unexpected bonus (for one of us)!
