We chose this holdiay rental as we wanted a weeks break away without being amongst hoards of tourist. We arrived to a lovely hot sunny day in Rhodes and were pleased to get into an air conditioned house! The propery is lovely and spacious with everything you need. We did not use the down stairs sitting room at all during the week as every evening we sat on the terrace watching the stars! Very romantic! The property was as described and the directions given were needed as it is tucked away down little streets. The house was clean and tidy and looked after. We did not hire a car as we wanted a laid back week so borrowed a couple of bikes which suited us fine when we wanted to get to the beach. No hills!! We also caught the bus a couple of days but be careful if you catch it to Rhodes as there wasn't one to bring us back! It did drop us off on the main road so we prepared ourselves for the walk back (about 1-1/2 miles) but luckily a kind local took pity on the mad tourists walking in the afternoon heat and gave us a lift. There is only one place to eat in the village with was very nice so we tended to have our main meal out at lunch times. The village shop was well stocked and we managed to do all our food shopping there during the week and did not find it too expensive. Rhodes town was lovely especially if you ventured away from the main town and investigated the small streets. There was nothing I did not like about Rhodes or the property and would definitely go again and recommend it to friends. The owners were very pleasant and answered any questions promptly.

We enjoyed our stay in this nice little village house...a little damp to begin with but as this was winter we just put the heating on! The house was clean & well equiped, bed was made & fresh towels ready.
Most holiday lets I have stayed in usually have a folder of nearby attractions aswell as where to find a supermarket either locally or a few miles away. I think this would have been a great help.
Our trip was now in the winter but in the summer places to eat out would also be of help.
Yes I would recommend this house to friends or relatives.
We did not realise that almost everything would be closed for the winter especially places to eat. We enjoyed eating at "Jimmys" in the village 3 times during our stay.

I would thoroughly recommend this quiet little house in the village of Malona. Everything in the desctiption is accurate; and we had excellent customer service. Ian and Jo were always very friendly in their correspondance, and their friends in Malona were available for opening the house and explaining how it all worked, and what is available in the area. The photos and directions to the house were very helpful, and the only worrying part of the journey from the airport was the road works around Faliraki. The house is clean and well maintained; the only thing that could be improved is that the air conditioning is downstairs and we used a fan in the upstairs bedroom. However, it opens onto an upstairs terrace, which is lovely in the evenings.
There are 2 beaches close by and plenty of places to eat and drink without going far from Malona, although it is best to have a car as the main road to Lindos, with buses, is a fairly long walk and the taxis were on strike!
It is also ideally placed for other areas in Rhodes, and Lindos is a short journey away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely think of returning to both the house and Rhodes. It is a most beautiful place.

I stayed here during Christmas 2010 to escape the chill in Burgundy. The house is simple and comfortable. Parts of Rhodes, especially the coast, are utterly deserted in December, but Malonas has plenty of local life all year and the best oranges I have every tasted. If you are seeking some temperate weather and a quiet winter holiday its a good deal - Ryanair flies direct from London and it's just 100 Euro to get a car for a week.

LOCATION
Malona is situated centrally and nestles in a fertile basin surrounded by hills. A car is highly desirable and lets you reach the main east coast road in under five minutes, giving access to many places. In less than ten minutes by car, you can be at a superb sandy beach, with safe bathing.
Malona has a mix of restored properties and derelict dwellings, all scattered along a maze of narrow streets. There are a few shops, bars and tavernas within walking distance but you will probably wish to venture further afield.
THE PROPERTY
The property appears small from outside yet is surprisingly spacious inside. The bougainvillea prominent in the photograph on the website had been cut right back when we visited, although a lemon tree and a vine remain. The property has been well restored but has derelict buildings in proximity. On-street car parking was always available in the vicinity, however the road outside the property is narrow and parking there could obstruct other vehicles.
The shaded ground floor patio and sunny first floor terrace provide visitors with a superb choice, whatever the temperature. Many of the property’s traditional features have been retained, including the charming front door and oak beam ceilings. The bedroom is on the ground floor and air-conditioned. There is generous wardrobe and storage space. Leading off the bedroom is the compact kitchen, which is very well equipped. Leading off the kitchen is the washroom and toilet. The shower is of the wet room type and the shower head is hand-held (although there is a fixed, cold water, outdoor shower, if you are brave).
The two floors are connected by external stairs, as is common in traditional Greek rural dwellings. The first floor has a very comfortable and spacious lounge, with views over rooftops to the hills in the distance. Thoughtfully, the owners provide a selection of books, guides, games and a PlayStation.
THE ARRANGEMENTS
The owners deal very efficiently with the booking administration, deposit refund and other arrangements. We found them friendly and helpful, in particular with detailed directions to the property. The arrangements upon arrival were less good. Although the (English) caretaker lives only a few metres away, we had to make an international mobile phone call to gain entry, as his address was not provided. If you expect to arrive after dark, we recommend you make access arrangements in advance.

Malona is a typically Greek village with houses all very close to each other. The holiday let was a good base to see the beautiful island of Rhodes and the people who where 'caretakers' for the property where very helpful and kind. There were plenty of maps and information in the property and eating locally was extremely good. The property was clean and the welcome pack provided was appreciated. We found the local people very friendly and enjoyed walking around Malona and talking to the locals. We will definitely visit Rhodes again.

April turned out to be an excellent month to visit Rhodes. Warm sunshine, empty beaches and quiet roads. The house is clean and well-maintained and situated in a delightful, friendly village, well away from the tourist apartments yet within easy reach of all the island's attractions. Communications with the owners was very good and directions to the property were very clear. A sequence of photos was provided which enabled us to navigate the village streets easily even though we arrived after dark. The family who look after the property were there to greet us when we arrived and were on hand to provide friendly assistance and local knowledge throughout our stay.

We enjoyed eating on the sunny, upper terrace but I imagine that, in the heat of summer, the shaded courtyard would be ideal. Shopping in the village was a real pleasure but equally, with a hire car, large supermarkets were only a short drive away.

We would certainly recommend the property to anyone who wishes to stay in a house of real character, in a genuine Greek village surrounded by the world's finest oranges! We had an excellent week's holiday and hope to return.

We found Rhodes to be one of the most interesting places we’ve visited, and our visit was made even better by those little extras provided by Jo and Ian – a fridge of goodies on arrival, the place-numbered map book which was so very much better than our own and also the unexpected towel and bed linen change mid-week.

We found the directions to the property very useful, especially as we arrived in the dark. The property itself was immaculate. The huge bedroom had more than enough storage space and led on to a bright, modern kitchen. Although we ate all our evening meals in the lower eating area (table and chairs provided) so that we could chat through the open window, there was also an external seating area on the upper floor. The lounge upstairs was a cool, modern room with dvd player and very comfortable for viewing.

Although we didn’t use local restaurants, we found the local supermarkets excellent for providing all that we needed for picnics and evening meals and the people serving were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The location was good – easy access to Rhodes in particular, but also to all other areas. The feeling of living in a genuine Greek village amongst Greek people was so much nicer than the mass apartments on the coast! (We were even brought a plateful of food from the birthday party over the road!) The local beach was beautiful - quiet, sandy, overlooked by a picturesque ruined castle and literally a couple of minutes’ away.

We would certainly recommend this property to a friend – and indeed to anyone thinking of renting the property.
