Our trip was a wonderful experience due to two things: The beauty & practical location of the condo and the condo owner’s knowledge and assistance.

We arrived on Sunday, when practically everything is closed up on the island, but due to the thoroughness & thoughtfulness of our condo owner & host, this didn't affect our 1st day in Bermuda one bit. He picked a few groceries up before promptly picking us up at the airport, which made all the difference. His knowledge of the island culture and people were a tremendous help. He was able to tell us great places to eat, to visit, and even what beaches would give us the best experience. He knew all the mainstream places to eat and some not, which made our experience as a family truly unique.

The condo was exactly as it is pictured and provided the most breathtaking views of the ocean, the island, and some wonderful sunrises and sunsets. The patio was an excellent place to begin the mornings and end the evenings. The kitchen was well stocked with whatever you needed to make a small or large meal. The bedrooms and bathroom sizes were just right and layout of the dining area/lounge areas provided for great meals and great conversation. We lacked nothing!

Chris also provided a cell phone for local calls only and to reach him whenever we needed his assistance. This was a great comfort, knowing he was always available to direct or sometimes redirect (LOL!) our endeavors. His personal attention to detail and to our needs and wants, truly made our vacation and stay feel like we were staying with FAMILY. Thanks Chris for a Wonderful and Exciting, while Tranquil, vacation & Excellent experience!!!

This was our first time away over the Christmas holiday as a family, and Chris could not have made us feel more at home. He was right there at the airport when we arrived to give us a ride to his place, and stopped at a grocery store along the way and patiently waited while we stocked-up for the week. He took us out on his boat to snorkle and paddleboard, and arranged a fishing trip with his buddies Brent and Michael - both of whom were great. When he realized we were having trouble making local calls, he immediately ran out to get us a phone. He even got a live Christmas tree and decorated it for us - this guy thought of everything! On our ride back to the airport, he was even willing to make a stop at the lighthouse as that was the one landmark we hadn't visited during the week. He also took a different route returning to the airport to ensure that our tour of the island was complete.

We were slightly worried that the place would be a bit too secluded from all the action, but it's a short walk to a few restaurants in Somerset, about a 30-minute walk to the Dockyard, and an easy 20-minute ferry ride to Hamilton - with a ferry stop right at the bottom of the hill. My wife and I rented pedal bikes and easily covered the entire island in two days, which was a great way to see everything. A word of advice if you're traveling over the holidays: it can be difficult to obtain bus/ferry tickets as many offices are closed, so plan accordingly to get passes ahead of time.

The views from the penthouse are amazing, and we enjoyed sunrises and sunsets from the covered porch. The open floor plan and spacious kitchen made for some great dinners and evenings at 'home.' Although the cleaning crew showed up a bit earlier than expected, I believe Chris had another party coming in soon after us, so it was understandable.

Overall, I highly recommend Chris' place - great interior, peaceful location, beautiful views, and an amazing host.

Few are so lucky as I to have booked a month's long stay in Bermuda! My first trip there, but hopefully not my last. I was fortunate to find Chris through this site and grateful for his flexibility in letting me bring along my tiny, elderly Maltese dog who travels everywhere with me. I shared the first half of my stay with my adult kids (and daughter's fiancé), had some days to myself, and then enjoyed the last part with a couple of girlfriends. A perfect balance!

I must admit that when I first arrived, the house felt a bit remote. But really it wasn't at all. I learned more every day about the lovely and inviting places and people on the west end of Bermuda. (Mark C's review is wrong - the house sits on a hill just outside Somerset Village in Sandy's Parish on the WEST side of the island with The Dockyards being furthest west.) As opposed to Hamilton, the South Shore, or some of the eastern parishes, Sandy's is less crowded, more low-key and really allows you to unwind. There are a handful of places to eat within walking distance - all good! A drugstore & liquor store in Somerset. Groceries are bit farther down the road. But Chris will wait while you shop when you first arrive so you can stock your frig.

A scooter is almost a must for this location if you really want to get around easily. However, one of my girlfriends didn't want to ride so we bus'd and ferried everywhere we couldn't walk, and it worked out okay.

It is almost indescribable to be surrounded by water on 3+ sides of your residence/viewing-area. You can spend hours just observing the changing weather patterns and cloud formations - and of course 5-star sunsets.

The condo was spacious and roomy. There were a few cooking items that I asked Chris to provide, which he did. Staying this long enabled us to cook some good meals and enjoy leisurely evenings on the deck.

Be sure to arrange a sail/snorkel excursion with Chris's friend, Keith. Not to be missed!! Also, all water sports - scuba, wave runners, small boats, etc - can be conveniently rented at Somerset Bridge. I highly recommend Blue Water Divers.

The friendly nature of Bermudians is every bit as inviting as the clear blue water. All are sincere, warm, and helpful. I felt completely safe hiking alone. And when a horrible event (my brother's death) required an early departure, I received no less than 6 hugs from different caring and helpful people, before I boarded the plane back to Texas. I will never forget that day.

Four of us arrived in Bermuda and were met by Chris at the airport. From that time to the time we left, Bermuda and the property exceeded our expectations!! Chris allowed us to stop at a grocery store to pick up things we needed and gave us a guided tour, both to and from his property when we left. The property was beautiful, clean and just what we needed to relax for a few days. There is an amazing view from the wrap-around balcony, which we enjoyed every day!! I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to vacation in Bermuda!!

What a spectacular property. My girlfriends and I had a wonderful stay; the views are breathtaking and the condo offers all of the amenities you could ask for. Chris was extraordinarily helpful in picking both of our parties (who arrived separately) up at the airport and giving us a lift to the grocery store. If you are looking to have space to lounge and relax at your own pace, this is certainly the place for you. We will certainly be back to the condo and look forward to visiting Bermuda again.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property in Somerset. The views from the unit are beautiful, you can see from one end of the island to the other from the wraparound balcony and covered veranda. The unit is beautiful, three bedrooms, really nice kitchen and living area, two nice bathrooms and laundry spot, also nice amenities like a big flat-screen tv, Wii, docking station and AC units in each room. The open balcony space is really nice with furniture, a grill and a hammock off the master bedroom.

The owner Chris, was extremely nice and helpful, picking us up to/from the airport and helping us plan some excursions. We did a really fun private paddle board trip with Chris, paddling out to see turtles. We also did another private snorkeling excursion with his friend Keith, out to the coral reef to see the fish. Both trips were highlights of the vacation.

This property is very close to a bus stop, the Watford ferry stop, and also to the Royal Naval Dockyard (which has a more frequent ferry stop). (Note - the map on HomeAway shows the property in Flatts Village, this is an error, it is located in Somerset, right near the Watford Bridge and ferry stop). We did most of our dining at the property, which worked out really well for us. Chris was also kind enough to stop us by the grocery store to stock up on our way to the house. For someone who is planning to dine out at night, bear in mind that the buses/ferries tend to stop on the early side. The South Shore beaches are a 20-30 minute bus ride, to visit Hamilton or St. Georges, it is easiest to take a ferry.

This is a wonderful property that I would recommend, we had a very relaxing stay in Bermuda here. Our host, Chris, was very gracious, answered many questions we had about the island, arranged fun activities for us, and helped make our stay very enjoyable.

This is a spectacular property ideal for the family that wants to get away from the hotel scene. After seeing the pictures we arrived with high expectations, and they were exceeded! The condo is spacious and the views are incredible. What we weren't expecting is the high-end quality of everything about the place. Awesome hammock on the patio. The furniture on the pato is solid and comfortable -- I picked up a chair to move it and it was heavy and substantial. Kitchen appliances first rate. Apple TV with Wii that made for some fun family competition at the end of the day. Nice grill for a relaxing evening together, eating on the patio with views that will beat any restaurant. The condo is stocked with condiments etc. so we could buy groceries and not have to worry about salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup etc. The beds were first-rate, with firm mattresses and top quality linens.

In short, everything about the place is just top notch, quite different from the beat-up utilitarian stuff in the typical rental property. We felt like we were "living large." My teenage sons thought the place was "sick" (for those of you unfamiliar with teenage jargon, that means they thought it was really cool).

Chris is unbelievably helpful. He set up excursions for snorkeling, paddle boarding and night time fishing. I've never met someone so willing to go so out of his way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. And he really came to our rescue when we had an unfortunate accident.

A word of caution. We rented motor scooters and my 20-year old daughter got in a pretty serious accident that required surgery. So if you're planning on doing this take it very seriously, and make sure everyone that is riding is 100% confident before you leave the rental shop. In hindsight my daughter wasn't, so if we did it again she would have practiced longer or perhaps sat behind my wife on her scooter.

After the accident we had to return the bikes, and were of course limited as far as transportation goes. Chris came to the rescue -- he took my wife to a grocery store and pharmacy and was kind enough to take us back to the airport to ensure my daughter was comfortable. We'll always be grateful for how much he cared and how willing he was to help us out in a tough situation.

Regardless of the accident, we're coming back, and we will be staying at Chris's place. In fact I could see us returning many times to this special place. Highly recommended!

This was our 3rd trip to Bermuda and we enjoy staying on the East Side where this condo is located. The East side is less developed with beautiful scenery but with very easy to access Hamilton and St. George by the ferry's at The Dockyards which is only a 5 min scooter away or a close by bus stop.
The unit is the 3rd floor penthouse. The views cannot be appropriatly described or exaggerated. There are big unobstructed views of the bay and ocean side. We ate breakfast every morning on the covered deck enjoying the views and relaxing. The unit is very new, well furnished and equiped with all accessories you may need. It was very clean and everything there as described plus some. The rooms are generous sized, nice bathrooms, beatiful kitchen. The owner, Chris, is a multi generational Bermudian that will go way out of his way to make your visit enjoyable. Chris also does paddleboard tours which we took to an area to see sea turtles . In addition to seeing sea turtles, I feel off my paddleboard and my sunglasses went to the bottom. We could not see them and had to leave them. Chris returned to the spot with snorkel gear and my sunglasses were on our front door the next day. Chris also arranged a great snorkling trip for us with a friend of his Keith on a trimaran Hat Trick. Bottom line is the condo is as described or better and Chris does everything he says he will do. We will return to Bermuda and we will book our trip to be able to stay in this unit.
