My 22 year old daughter and I stayed in the upstairs apartment with great sea-views and roof terrace. From the moment we arrived at the port we were looked after and welcomed. We had seen pictures of the property but they did not do it justice. There were slippers and white robes and we felt we were in a lovely hotel. When we walked in our first impressions were 'wow', it was truly a lovely property with lovely antique furniture, very clean, tasteful, and as soon as you came in the door you could see the sea view. It has two air-conditioned bedrooms which are appreciated after a hot day at the beach. The jacuzzi was excellent and added to our relaxation. The beds are very comfortable. There was only two of us but it is big enough for many more. The cleaner came daily, changed the sheets and the towels every two days and kept the apartment very clean. It is situated in the main port which is great to go down for an early morning coffee..or a cocktail at night...up one staircase to the road behind the water and main port. The owner Marie-Luise is very good at customer service and truly looks after her guests ensuring that you get to know Poros and have the best time possible. She provided us with lists of attractions, and restaurants. Staff at the local restaurants were very good. We had excellent Greek food at Costa's, a small taverna at the port. His wife makes beautiful fresh food. The people in the Port were very friendly. We also went to Hydra after our stay in Poros and it was not nearly as friendly. The best beaches are a bus ride away. The blue or the white bus. They go to different beaches in different directions, and have friendly drivers who will stop where you want them to. There are many beaches with chairs and umbrellas and service on the beach.My daughter's favourite beach was Askeli with bamboo umbrellas and good service and mine was Love Bay, a quieter inlet. We also spent a couple of days at the Siren Hotel where the beds are free and it has a platform where you can dive directly into the water and a small beach. It has waiter service and a restaurant and is a lovely place to be. Poros itself is good value and a lot cheaper than Hydra. You can have very expensive days or cheap days depending on your budget or mood. We will definitely go again and we would not stay anywhere else.
