Ferienhaus zum wohlfühlen

Im September 2009 verbrachten wir eine schöne Woche an der Loire. Das Ferienhaus ist strategisch sehr gut gelegen. In weniger als 50 Minuten erreicht man alle wichtigen Schösser der Region. Die Unterkunft war sehr gepflegt, sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet. Kinder haben im eingzäunten Garten viel Platz zum Toben. Sehr nette Gastgeber und der Table d´hotes war sehr gut und unterhaltsam. Ein Dankeschön an Phillip und Rebecca. Wir würden irgendwann gerne wiederkommen....

LOVED OUR HOLIDAY RENT

I travelled with my husband, my brother and his wife to the Loire to relax and enjoy the french lifestyle.The gite was cosy and comfortable in a quiet area of the pretty garden. It was exactly as described on the website. On arrival we were immediately made to feel very much at home.
A bonus was the private terrace overlooking vineyards for as far as the eye could see. A great spot to enjoy the local wine while watching the sun drop over the horizon leaving a brilliant red glow in the sky. We found the cute little chapel very interesting.
The location could not have been better with many chateaux and other tourist attractions within easy driving distance. The surprise packet was 10 km down the road, the lesser known pretty little chateau, Montpoupon, with its excellent museum and forest walk. A walk around the little village of Faverolles sur Cher with lovely French houses and gardens was very pleasant. The supermarket was just 3 kms away and from here it was an easy walk across the Cher and into Montrichard with its narrow streets, interesting architecture, little French restaurants, winery and on Friday morning, a vibrant local market.
Our hosts Rebecca and Phillip were wonderful. Despite the fact that they were frantically busy refurbishing the "Studio", they always made time to help us. Our stay would have been very different without their guidance. Rebecca cooked a delicious French dinner and we had a great night with the other guests. Thank you very much Rebecca, Phillip and your lovely daughter, Lara. The gite met our every need, a superb way to spend our last week in France.

Superb property, ideal location, perfect hosts

This idyllic property provided us with a perfect base for exploring the Loire Valley. The house is beautifully equipped and decorated. Superb bathroom with double sink. Ceramic floors throughout so easy to keep clean. Plenty of space for eating and living.
The gardens of the property are a major feature. In addition to a very large private garden the owners have made the rest of the gardens look like somewhere you would pay to visit with an abundance of well-stocked borders and trees.
Vineyards surround the property and it is lovely to step outside in the evening for a stroll around the local area with its wonderful views across the valley of the River Cher (by the way, the local winery down the road sells excellent, great value wine). The local town of Montrichard has a very good sandy beach with a roped off area for swimming in July and August.
The owners are English which we found to be a great benefit as our French is not that good and we sometimes struggle to make ourselves understood to French property owners. They are also very nice people who went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
We certainly intend to return, possible with our young grandchildren who we are sure would love this place and also be perfectly safe in its walled garden.
Excellent all round and highly recommended.

This is an absolutely lovely place to stay. The location is excellent, being close to several chateaux and the gite is fantastic. It was spotless and had everything we needed (even things like a washing basket and pegs), including some really useful things for a baby like a cot, highchair, a buggy, crockery and a blender. The private garden at the back was plenty big enough for our 3 year old to play football and was also a lovely place to sit out. Phillip and Rebecca were really welcoming and very helpful. All in all it was one of the best places we've stayed and we've already suggested it to some friends looking for a place to stay in the Loire!

Wir haben die Zeit an der Loire sehr genossen. Rebecca und Phillip haben die Ferienwohnung sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und taten alles, um uns eine angenehme Zeit bei ihnen zu bescheren. Es war wirklich alles perfekt und wir kommen gerne wieder!

Lovely, Lazy Loire

We stayed in the gite (me, my husband and a friend) to do some cycling in the Loire in September 2010. It was perfect from start to finish. Directions were excellent and Rebecca welcomed us with a tray of tea.
The gite is very well furnished and the kitchen has everything you would need. There's a good supermarket 5 mins drive away. The weather was very good. We had one wet day but even then, by the time we got back home, the rain had stopped and the sun was out. I think we ate outside each night we cooked. Hot air balloons came over most evenings and the stars were very bright each night.
On 2 evenings we ate in the main house, en famille. Rebecca is an excellent cook - the salmon in sorrel sauce was bliss! I'll be growing sorrel this summer! The meal was very traditionally French - aperitifs, starter, main, cheese, dessert & then coffee. Wines were from the vineyard literally across the road. I think it was 23euro including wine last year - well worth every single cent! We brought a dozen bottles of the local wine home - saved some for Christmas and they brought back wonderful memories of a lovely lazy holiday in the Loire.
One of the nicest things (apart from the food) about eating there was meeting other guests. We all ate together and met other Brits, some New Zealanders, French and Americans.
You do need a car to stay there and we did a mix of riding out from there or putting the bikes in the car and travelling out. Cheverny was our favourite chateau by a distance and we also loved Blois & Amboise towns.
Philip & Rebecca are perfect hosts and we would definitely stay there again if we're back in the area. It would be a perfect overnighter if travelling through France.
