What A Great Place to Stay!

I spent nearly a month at the aptly-named Casa Buena Vista this past summer recovering from "elective" surgery (okay I had a facelft!) and I can't reommend the place highly enough. For starters, the view, as you might guess from the name, is absolutely outstanding. My apartment was the middle unit in a three-story Victorian-era house (so one apartment below me and one above). Although the upper unit was frequently rented during my stay, I was generally unaware of any noise emanating from the upper flat.My own apartment was charming: a spacious, light filled, furnished two-bedroom with a fully-stocked kitchen and separate dining and living rooms. All this space came in handy during my convalescence as my daughter stayed with me to play nursemaid for a week, and hot on her heels were two of my dear girlfriends who also stayed for a week (and even tho' they are both a couple of boisterous ladies, we didn' feel crowded at all). I am an admitted fuss-budget when it comes to cleanliness, but I couldnt find fault with the apartment which was both clean and comfortable. I really think the positive expeience at Casa Buena Vista hastened my recovery. It is wonderfully situated at the top of a hill in the heart of San Francisco with the very colorful trendy Castro area a short 10 minute walk in one direction, and the famous (and equally colorful) Haight-Ashbury district an easy stroll in the other direction. And all that hill walking is fabulous for the butt! Oh yeah - public transport (both trains and buses) are easy to get to and easy to use. Within a very few days we were all feeling like native San Franciscans. On the few occasions when I didn't feel like tackling the beautiful streets of "my" neighborhood, I would park myself on the second story deck just outside my bedoom and simply gaze at the amazing views (rooftops, hills, and San Francisco Bay - breathtaking!). Because of the extended length of my stay, I got a chance to meet Sandy - the owner. She's a charming lady with a real appreciation for the history and architecture of San Francisco, and takes great pride in keeping her various properties in tip-top shape. So yes, the place IS fabulous (and so, I might add post-op, am I!).
