Troubadour ist eine sehr liebevoll eingerichtete Ferienwohnung mit gut ausgestatteter Küche in großartiger Lage. Vom Bahnhof ohne Probleme zu Fuß zu erreichen (ca. 5 Minuten), liegt die Wohnung sehr zentral am Marktplatz, auf dem dienstags, donnerstags und samstags auch tatsächlich Markt abgehalten wird. In den Cafés und Bistros, die ihre Tische und Stühle auf den Platz gestellt haben, tummelt sich das ganz normale französische Alltagsleben und als Tourist ist man mitten drin. Wer lärmempfindlich ist und bei offenen Fenstern schläft, sollte sich aber Ohrstöpsel einstecken, denn früh am Morgen sorgt die Stadtreinigung dafür, dass die Straßen für den neuen Tag hübsch sauber geputzt werden. Das touristische Highlight ist natürlich die Cité, aber man sollte es sich auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen, am Canal du Midi auf den alten Treidelpfaden entlang zu spazieren oder zu radeln (Fahrradvermietung ist am Bahnhof). Wir haben unsere Woche in Carcassonne sehr genossen und überlegen schon, ob wir nicht bald einmal im Herbst diese zauberhafte Stadt besuchen sollen. Wir werden dann auf jeden Fall wieder im Troubadour wohnen wollen, denn auch der Kontakt zu der Vermieterin war bei der gesamten Abwicklung sehr angenehm: schnelle Antworten, großzügige Konditionen, ein sehr herzliches Willkommen mit frischen Blumen und einer Flasche Sekt aus der Region und nicht zuletzt die sehr zügige Rücküberweisung der Kaution. Ein perfekter Urlaub bei einer perfekten Vermieterin. Vielen Dank, Caroline!

Troubadour apartment- amazing

This apartment is by far the best equipped apartment we have ever stayed in!! The owner's attention to detail is second to none and I cannot think of one item of equipment that was not provided. All cleaning materials, shampoo, hair conditioner were there for use. The owner's customer service was superb, as much information as could be provided about the apartment and the area was sent by letter with the keys. Our stay was 18-25 February the weather was cold but fine, the outlook on to the Place Carnot was excellent and despite the cold we were able to sit out at the cafes and bistros exactly as stated in the owner's information pack.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to friends, absolutely perfect for a couple.
By the way I am not related in any way to the owner, just happened to be an amazing find.

The Troubadour is a small but beautiful apartment, perfect for a couple. It was immaculately clean and beautifully furnished in what we imagine to be typically French style. The situation is ideal - even us oldies could walk almost everywhere, i.e. Le Cite, Canal du Midi, shopping etc.
The setting up of the market on Saturday morning was rather noisy from about 4.30 a.m.! but this was part of the charm and the market was very interesting. Smaller markets on Tuesday (and I believe Thursdays but we weren't there) didn't disturb us at all.
The information provided was superb and very useful. We tried some of the restaurants and also one called (I think) l'assiette which was also very good (it has a model stork outside.
We also went on a boat trip on the Canal du Midi but apart from the locks we didn't really find it very interesting.

Location, location, location!

My friend Susan and I have just returned from a three night stay at Les Platanes. We booked this particular apartment because of the central location, the decor and the fact that there were two separate bedrooms.
Everything was exactly as we had hoped for and more! The location is perfect, right next to the central square of the town. Five minutes walk in one direction to the Train Station, five minutes in the other direction to the bridge at the base of La Cite, with another 10 minute walk taking you directly to the gates of the castle itself.
The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well. As it was St Patricks weekend there was plenty of partying going on late into the night. Light sleepers might find the noise outside somewhat disruptive, even with the windows closed, but we had no trouble sleeping on the three nights that we stayed. I don't think it would be possible to sleep with windows open but I note that fans are provided to keep guests cool in the summer.
The front of the apartment overlooks Place Carnot, and it has two large windows in both the sitting room and the kitchen. The two rooms are bright, airy and very nicely decorated. The kitchen is very well equipped and Caroline has provided everything under the sun that you might require to live in Les Platanes for months on end if necessary!
We were delighted upon arrival to see that the owners had left us a lovely bottle of wine, a litre of milk, and fresh tulips that stayed perky all through our stay! It was all these little extras that made our stay so perfect.
Caroline was really great to deal with from the initial enquiry, through the booking process, right through our visit and beyond. She provided us with "sackloads" of information which really helped us make the most of our short stay.
If I were to recommend Carcassonne to friends or family, I would certainly send them in the direction of Les Platanes. It definitely ticked all the boxes for us.

One thing I would add to the comments is that as well as having fans in the bedrooms for the hot weather, we also have an air-conditioning unit in the reception rooms at the front.

Wij huurden 1 week het app. Troubedour en het is een aanrader.
Heel mooi ingericht,stijlvol,maar ook zo compleet.Alles is er .
Van toiletpaier,badschuim tot allerlei keuken-attributen.Mooi en gezellig uitzicht over het plein.Carcasson zelf ,heel erg gezellig stadje.
En zo schoon.
Er is ook een nadeel,'snachts gaan gemeente-werken het plein schoonmaken,dus...oordopjes in.
Wij hebben het heel erg naar ons zin gehad.

The Troubadour is an excellent apartment situated in the best possible location in Carcassonne. Decorated with good taste and well maintained it is very clean and spacious enough for two. Offers the opportunity to taste the locals’ life and also enjoy the outstanding market, its proximity to the castle and the railway station. Everything is very well organised to the smallest detail and makes one’s holiday relaxing and enjoyable.

My husband and I have recently returned from a wonderful weekend in Carcassone. I have wanted to visit for many years and was a little bit apprehensive in case Carcassone did not live up to the image that I had created in my head thanks to the Kate mosse book Labyrinth. I need not have been concerned, it was wonderful, but helped very much by this lovely little find The Troubadour apartment. The location is fantastic overlooking Place Carnot which has a good selection of restaurant and bars, a great place to watch the world go by. On Saturday morning the bustle of the market was so vibrant it was contagious, whether watching from the apartment window or mingling with the lovely French people. A visit to the Cite is of course a must, it was a magical experience, almost transporting you back in time. Everything you needed was at the apartment and more, it was so charming and comfortable. The bed linen was sparkling and there were plenty of towels to hand. Having walked our feet off over the weekend, we would say the location of this apartment is unequalled, just perfect. Caroline’s knowledge of the area was evident from the tips of where to visit, what to do and restaurants to try, there really is something for everyone. One evening we ate at L'Ecurie, it had a lovely atmosphere and I was very pleased that they were quite helpful and knowledgeable about my gluten free diet.

Back to a little piece of heaven

This was our second visit to Carolines apartments, we had visited Les Platanes in November as a family group ( my review is on Les Platanes page) but my husband & I couldn't wait to go back for a romantic weekend and Troubadour certainly fitted the bill. We have never felt so at home,the apartment is stunning & beautifully furnished with so many lovely touches, all the pictures & ornaments make it so cosy. Once again we enjoyed the lovely bottle of wine & flowers left for us. The bedroom is fabulous, the pictures on this site do not do it justice& the bed is so comfortable. Once again we had the fantastic view over Place Carnot & although it was just after Christmas the place still bustled. We spent a leisurely Saturday morning walking around both markets buying fresh produce to enjoy later for dinner, in the very well stocked kitchen. The locals are so friendly & very helpful, I always find if you make the effort to speak whatever French you can they will reward you with big smiles & lots of help.
Then sitting at Chez Felix on the square drinking cafe au lait ,people watching, happy days.
We spent Sunday up at the Cite, unfortunetly it rained but we were fine with the umbrellas provided in the apartment.It was great to arrive back in the afternoon to our "home" jump into a hot shower, put on the lovely towelling dressing gowns provided and make steaming hot mugs of chocolate then just relax and read one of the books off the well stocked bookcase.
We came back so relaxed from our little break, it did us the world of good! One thing I can't understand are the negative comments that some people leave about the noise on the square, we heard nothing that spoiled our sleep... a couple of glasses of wine before bed and we heard nothing!!
I will definetly be heading back to Troubadour again and would recommend it to all my friends.

If you are looking for a home from home book this apartment you won't be sorry!!

She said then she couldn't wait to get back for another visit but I was amazed that her second visit was in January, a mere two months after the original one - and she has told me she is already planning another visit later this year! We love all our apartments and we get a great kick out of knowing that so many of our clients have fallen in love with both the apartments and Carcassonne.

Lovely apartment, great location

I drove past Carcassone a few years back whilst heading south and vowed to visit one day. Well the chance came in August when i found Caroline's apartments. The location in the pretty Place Carnot, right at the heart of the Bastide with its markets & cafes, and just 5 minutes walk from the medieval city and the Canal du midi couldn't have been more perfect. The apartment itself is very special, beautifully furnished, loads of character and with gorgeous windows & shutters. It is equipped to a very high standard with just about everything you could think of and was spotlessley prepared along with a very welcoming bottle of wine & message. The medieval city of Carcassone is fascinating and the scale of the place can only be fully appreciated in the flesh. The Canal du midi provides beautiful walks alongside miles of vineyards & fields of sunflowers, framed by the distant mountains. Caroline was great to deal with, going out of her way to sort out my booking and providing very clear and detailed information, instructions & restaurant recommendations (i can also recommend Le Clos Occitan restaurant). I hope very much to return to Caroline's apartments in 2011.
