We loved this apartment. The neighbourhood is full of cheerful cafes, restaurants and bars. The grocery stores are close and of course the Albert Cuyp Market is amazing.
The apartment is centrally located, so it is easy to get a tram or a taxi. The main museums are within walking distance.
The property is impeccable and so comfortable. We loved the Krups coffee machine! The street is quiet at night so we slept very well. We will return gladly.

This apartment is the perfect place to stay to see all of what Amsterdam has to offer. It's very close to a 16/24 tram stop and right around the corner from Albert Cuypmarkt. There is also a grocery store nearby that is open on Sundays.

The owner is wonderful and helped me haul my luggage up the steep, winding stairs (with a baby on her hip!). The apartment is clean, sunny, and priced *very* reasonably. The sunset view from the roof terrace is not to be missed.

I'd definitely recommend this apartment. As in most of Amsterdam, you certainly get your exercise every day on those stairs! It's well worth it.

Everything about this apartment was as promised on the website. The apartment is very clean, well equipped and maintained, and has lots of natural light. There are large windows in both the back and front (bedroom and living areas). There is also light from a skylight which opens to lead to the roof terrace. Many of the staples necessary for cooking were already in the apartment. The bed is large and comfortable, the shower is good; and the washing machine is easy to use.There was no noise from adjoining units and street noise was minimal. Marieke, the owner, was very helpful. She provided instruction booklets for all the appliances, and a listing of recommended food markets and restaurants in the area. A large (for Europe) supermarket and one of the major Amsterdam street markets are a five minute walk from the apartment. Several major tourist attractions, including the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, are within easy walking distance. Caution: as noted in Marieke's description, the apartment is up four flights of rather steep and narrow stairs; there is no elevator.

I knew from the first email from Marieki that we found the perfect place to stay in Amsterdam. Marieki was the perfect host. Still can't believe she made it up those never steps being 8 months pregnant. I thought if she can make we surely can.It was well worth it when you arrive at the top.
We just loved this apartment. It was so cozy,clean,airy,bright and the bed was sooooo comfy.
Loved the espresso coffee machine. My husband wants to get the same one for us.
The location was perfect.The big Albert Cuylp market was a block away.
The tram was down the street to take us any where we wanted to go.We would take the tram and walk back. Great resturants and a huge grocery store were minutes away.Everything is in walking distance. You can walk to the museums.
We just loved our private roof terrace. After a long day of site seeing we would head up the roof with a good beer to relax and reminisce about our exciting day.

From the friendly contact I'd had on line I know Marieke, would be a lovely helpful lady and she was. We had a cheerful welcome on our arrival at the apartment which is easy to get to by tram from the railway station. The accommodation is right at the top of the tall house so make sure you don't bring a large heavy case with you as the stairs are very steep and narrow too.
There are plenty of cheap places to eat nearby, and also supermarkets if you are on a budget as we were. Everything else has been mentioned already by other people. The pictures do not do the decor justice, it is much more spacious than it looks on here. The place is also very warm if you're booking in the winter, but if you are planning a summer/spring break, you will love the roof terrace.

My husband & I do property management for a living and found this apartment to be incredible! Accurately described in the listing, it far exceeded our expectations especially with all the little extras the owner provided for our use, which in our business we would only have found in 5 star properties.The interior was cosy and romantic, the kitchen was well equipped, the shower was large and nicely tiled, the bed was incredibly, and we felt like we were in a home away from home. Sitting up on the roof terrace gave us wonderful views of Amsterdam especially at sunset! We have been coming to Amsterdam for several years and this was our first staying in the De Pijp district of south Amsterdam. What a great neighborhood! There were great shops and a supermarket all within 2 blocks. Directly around the corner was the daily Albert Cuyp Straat Market, the largest outdoor market in Europe, outstanding value. In the past we usually ate out, and de Pijp have several very nice restaurants to choose from, but with the market and all the different ethic shops around we thoroughly enjoyed shopping for fruit, cheese (OMG!) and other goodies we would have later at home. The communication and service from Marieke was excellent from our very first enquiry, throughout and even after our stay - very friendly, helpful. In the future, we will not have to look any further as this will be our holiday apartment from now on! Many thanks Marieke!

My husband and I stayed at Marieke's apartment and absolutely loved it. The area is very relaxed and lovely, and the apartment is spacious and filled with light. The stairs are a killer, but we had fun giggling about how out of breath we were. The bed is SO comfortable, I spent a lot of time lazing and reading books. Marieke is very sweet and check in and out was a breeze. The price just can't be beat - Amsterdam is expensive and for the same you could get a tiny hotel room. We loved the local bars and restaurants, and there is a grocery store just right down the street for stocking the kitchen. We would absolutely stay here again, in fact we are looking forward to it!

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011. Having been to Amsterdam on a few occasions we are very aware of how expensive a good hotel can be with even the budget price hotels costing a fortune and not being good value for money. So we decided to opt for a private rental and we were very pleased with this great wee apartment. Beware though the stairs are a killer and the terrace not for the faint hearted!

Having stayed in de Pijp in 2005 we knew the area was bohemian, diverse, full of great and unique shops. The clothes shop round the corner Sjerptine Mode will have a dress for ANY occasion and the daily market alongside all the great cafes, bars and restaurants provides great options for eating in or out whatever your budget. The neighbourhood has its' own local park and is very close to the musuemplein area. It's also only a short tram journey or a leisurely stroll up to the more touristy areas of leidesplein and the canal belt but the area lacks the stag and hen parties of the central area and each to their own but if that's your thing this is the wrong part of town.

The apartment itself is lovely,fresh, clean and a home from home with everything you need - bits and bobs in the kitchen as well as herbs, oils spices, sugar coupled with nurofen and plasters in the bathroom cabinet. We were very impressed by how they had thought of everything. The open plan living and kitchen area has a dining table and a quirky glass chandelier over the (steep) stairs so a night dining in feels as good as a night out! The bedroom has a lovely balcony and a comfy bed with plenty of hangers in the wardrobe.

There is also a shower room, seperate wc, a utility room with a washing machine.The only thing I didnt see was an adapter for uk plugs although we had brought our own anyway.

Finally there is also a fab roof terrace though not for those with any vertigo issues. Reached by stairs and a full door sized perspex hatch (trust me its hard to explain but completely fab) although the weather wasnt too great and we didnt use it much it was nice to know it was there!

The owner met us on arrival and provided a great wee handout of her favourite local places. There was free wifi so we brought our laptop along and found lots of good info online.

A great place that I would recomend 100% and I would love to return to.
