Well-appointed room-y apartment w/ canal view
In Venice you want views, a local and out of the way neighborhood with cafes, pastry shop, bakery, etc.
You want to see the city wake up from your bedroom terrace but you dont want a noisy stay. You want a clean apartment where everything from the coffee maker to the bathroom fixtures work perfectly. And you want an honest, helpful and responsive proprietor.
Easy with this apartment overlooking one of the city's small but working canals and located off the beaten track but a stone's throw from busy Campo San Giacomo dell"Oreo, a bustling and hyper local piazza.
Easy because everything works like a charm. Easy because the apartment is clean and well organized. And you've got that dreamy view from the little balcony off the master bedroom.
What surprises is the large scale and roominess of the apartment, not easy to find in a cramped city like Venice. With 3 distinct bedrooms, large foyer, kitchen, 2 full baths (which worked perfectly; plenty of hot water and soaps), washer and immense dry rack, which you can bet we used, living room and full dining room equipped with china and fine glassware for a proper sit-down dinner, a party like ours, 2 parents and 3 athlete sons in their 20's and 30's, had room to spare!
Also exceptional is the owner, Luca. He was a dream to do business with beforehand, met us promptly at the station upon our arrival, made sure we were comfortable, gave us very helpful and delightful tips on where to go for everything from fresh bread in the morning to the best barber in the area. And of course, he personally knew all the vendors! Luca was easy to reach if we had a question and perfectly prompt to meet us at our departure and bid us farewell.
Really, a delight as a landlord and as a person!
We wished we could have stayed another week, but
beware, this apartment gets booked for good reason. And this family from San Francisco WILL be back!
Grazie mille per tutto, Luca!
