I stayed here for a week at the beginning of September with my mother and daughter -- and a week wasn't long enough. I had been looking for somewhere that would provide a truly relaxing break but which was fairly near the airport and shops, restaurants, etc. I found Mar Azul resort and decided that it seemed to fit what I was looking for and it more than met my expectations.
The drive from the airport was very pleasant and took about 40 minutes. When we arrived reception couldn't have been more helpful and accompanied us to the apartment to show us our parking space and where everything was and how it worked.
The apartment itself was tastefully decorated to a very high standard with everything that you could possibly have wanted. The kitchen was stocked with more than enough plates, cutlery, and glasses for a family of 6, and the appliances were first rate; the bathrooms were well stocked with high quality towels; and most importantly the beds were comfortable. The balcony was large and overlooked both the pool and the sea and it was lovely to sit there with a glass of wine and a book. Everything was spotless and luxurious.
The pool area is a fantastic oasis with a large free form pool which goes from ankle deep streams to the deep infinity edge which seems to flow into the Mediterranean. There are plenty of intimate nooks and crannies with 3 or 4 sun loungers so that you almost feel like you are the only people around. There are also a couple of large round cabanas with sliding doors furnished with settees and chairs which were lovely to sit in when the sun got too hot. The whole place was well maintained, clean, and safe and the staff couldn't do enough to make sure that our stay was enjoyable.
The resort is near to the Laguna Village shops and restaurants which you can walk to along the beach. The Carrefour is a short drive away and very near to Estepona, a lovely Spanish town with bars, restaurants, and shopping. Puerto Banus is easy to get to and to find parking in and has an enormous El Corte Ingles -- along with many extremely high end and couture boutiques -- be warned!
Danny gave practical advice before we left and personally checked once we had arrived that everything was OK and to our satisfaction. He is a thoroughly honest and takes great care that your experience in his apartment is unparalleled.
I have no hesitancy in recommending this apartment and hope to stay there again.
